The spam!

Yesterday and today, the spam is terrible. One person posting again and again - I think it's over 100 spam posts just this morning. Please tighten up whatever system you use to detect spam and get rid of it. Thanks!

I believe that we are the system. We are expected to report spam when we see it. I do it. I agree that the rate of spam is getting out of control.

The scammer is posting new messages faster than I can report them. I am giving up. Presumably a moderator will remove the entire account.

Yes, that helps and I reported about 100 posts this morning. However, I have been a moderator for several message boards and the amount of spam that any board receives cannot be handled solely by members reporting it. There is usually some other system behind the scenes, often a combination of moderators patrolling the boards to delete the spam and deactivate spammer accounts, along with software that has an automated process to detect it.

We'd like to add a few comments about the recent hacker/spammer situations. We appreciate everyone for bringing spam to our attention. If there are 100 spam posts, it is not necessary to report it 100 times. Sending us just one report will save all of us time. We also appreciate it when you post “Spam reported”, That lets others know it doesn’t need reported again. Thank you!
