MANY of these post make ME shake my head. I am well aware of how to file my taxes and what is legal and what is not. I have been doing this type of work for close to 30 years. What makes me shake y head is reading these posts..people are ill/uniformed and claim they know the law. With all due respect anjilesmail you "mixed up" business and IC and say you are a full time merchandiser (50 hours) and yet are a CPA with an office and say the IRS will say anything?. I take EVERYTHING I read on here with a grain..no a BOX of salt. I deal with professionals that I KNOW are professionals..Wild Bill how long have you been in this field? I think...no I KNOW I know what I am doing

Wild Bill..As I have stated before I am well aware of how to file my taxes and what is required..I really suggest you contact a tax attorney, the IRS or a professional rather then posting on a board and taking what is told you as the gospel truth. As everyone should be aware anyone can post anything on a forum and it doesnt make it so..and anyone who doesn t consult with a professional or government agency is very ill informed. to quote you.. Can I explain this any simpler?

Wild Bill..I don t think presenting accurate information and encouraging people to contact professionals and government agencies to find correct information is "stirring the pot". Having done this type of work for decades I stay away from these forums( as a general rule)..there are way too many inaccuracies and that s just very sad. Newbies and even more seasoned people are misled by people posting wrong things. The easy, accurate way to find out something is to contact the IRS, a tax attorney, an accountant, a banker..someone that you KNOW is real..not someone who is faceless on a board. And if companies have been hiring me for many many years and I now work almost exclusively in very high end stores I must be adding something of value to them

I thought this thread was about Snap Audits, not the difference between an employee and an IC, or how to file taxes. I would like to know if anyone has any further input on Snap since that's what this thread was started for. I just got another email from them today and it suddenly looks a lot more legitimate, but I'm still skeptical.

The IC/EIN/SSN started because of the Snap Audit emails. The only way you can find out if its legit is to sign up and try it yourself..Nobody knows who is really posting here ie: if they have worked with snap, if they work for Snap, etc. I have gotten several emails from them.

I'd like to sign up because I'm intrigued but I'd rather not share my information with a company that seems sketchy. I do use an EIN but still. I'm just hoping someone who's worked for them, although it seems like they're new, will come out and share their experience.

Yes it is a tough choice with a new company. To be one of the first or wait it out? As the owner?? Tammy was with CAST and that is how she obtained our emails via her accessibility with them and her not so nice comments on this thread and the EIN insistence I have a sour taste without even trying them

I signed up today and got my first assignment within 3 hours. They pay monthly on a 15th cycle.

It is working in a Circle K and it was easy picking locations I wanted to complete.

anjise what is the hourly pay, please? I have sent a few email inquiries to the email inviting me to apply iwth them (before even seeing this thread) but did not receive a reply.

Each job seems to be different , but this one is $16.50 per hour and store is to take 1 hour

Poor response Tammy - if that is your real name (written as such to drive idea how not legit your email and forum reply is). We all have questions and you could have answered several on your post. Until your so-called outfit becomes more legit, we won't take you seriously (keep in mind that Mystery Shoppers and Merchandisers are detail-oriented; we're paying attention and SNAP Audits doesn't pass the smell test).

The pay is flat rate..so if you are offered say 15.00 for a job it may say job takes between 30-60 minutes. You may or may not get additional pay if the work exceeds that time and that quote usually doesn't include any admin time. So if you are quoted 15.00 for a job and it takes 65 minutes and 15 for admin then it comes out to less then 15.00. Of course it could be more if the job and admin takes less time.

Not for this week. We are doing 7000 gas stations but the chain is not in ND. I believe we will be in CVS next week and there are stores in ND. Hopefully you are near Grand Forks?

I applied and did state I did not have a smartphone on the application. Someone called my home phone and my Tracfone asking me to apply after I had already told them I had no smartphone. Now I got another email this morning asking me to apply. Doy.. I still have no smartphone.

Snapaudits does not require a smartphone.

You are correct Tammy ..... it is the EIN number. I don't have an EIN # and do not want one and do not need one.

After getting two emails inviting me to sign up, I finally sent an email to them about 2 weeks ago, asking them to PLEASE REMOVE me from their list, because I do not have an EIN, and am NOT INTERESTED in getting an EIN...never needed one in all my years of merchandising/mystery shopping (since 2005), and don't want one.....end of story, right? Having an EIN and, actually, making your business an LLC is a smart move, and to mystery, auditing, and merchandising companies, makes sense that the the independent contractor takes the business seriously. It adds a speck of trust through professionalism.

BTW has ANYONE tried signing up with Snap Audits?

If you are not interested in being an I.C., it is just another thing you don't / won't need. I have an EIN, but no longer accept any IC work ( With very, very few incredibly high priced exceptions) So at my stage of the game, it would be a why bother item . I did many years as an IC and found that I personally made more money with less hassle and trouble by going the employee route. Job supposed to take a hour but takes three? I got paid. Location closed after 45 minute drive? I got paid. Store refuses set / POP? I still got paid. When I was an IC (and all these things happened to me at least one time or another) I was just out of luck for my time and money. I'm so done with all of that! Especially the way things seem to be going in the merchandising field.
I'm also curious if anyone has actually competed a job with SNAP. I believe someone was going to do a Circle K?

I have nothing to lose, and everything to gain. I'm guessing it's hard to be legit if you just started your business. Certainly, I hope someone will give me a chance before I prove myself and my business. Keep in mind, I've never had to deal with anyone from this company before and I do not rely on pissed of people's rants and reviews. I'll do it. :-)

Thank you! I'll try but if they don't take responsiblty for their part, I won't stay contracted for sure. I'm so glad you wrote this because I hadn't considered they'd be different.

If the store is closed or a store refuses service, take a photo of the closed store or outside of the building. Report it as a closed store. You get a dry run fee. It is about 90% of the visit pay. You have to have the name of the manager that refused the visit, photo and complete the report for refusals.

What's going on with this company? I got a phone call from them today. Seems to be a very busy person on the other end of the phone.

I still get a ton of emails from them looking for merchandisers, but I still am not buying into it. When this started, their website was down, contact info was fishy, and I have no clue how they got my email. I understand they could have been a new company but it all seemed so sketchy, it's hard to move past that.
