Job Listing- ( suburban location) part time merchandiser wanted, flexible hours.
I am getting so frustrated filling out very lengthy applications, going through phone interviews, and at the end of the day, being offered something I would never have applied for in the first place! I am only interested in part-time work. Only suburban locations. I do not apply for anything which lists anything else. My last 4 offers were for full time and urban locations.
On another forum posting there was a discussion of the merchandiser jobs that have you working inside a big discount retailer 3 days a week. I had been wondering what the advantage was for the merchandiser to be doing the same work as the employees with out the benefits. I can tell you, based on the phone interview I did yesterday, none. $2.00 less per hour, and you work until the task is done, 6 hours, 10 hours, whatever it takes. Day specific and time specific hours. Some overnights and weekends. Unload trucks one day a week. Then you travel to another location the next day and do it all again for another retailer. I was told that if I didn't want to work 40 hours I could just hustle and get it all done in 20. HUH??? Now that is a trick I would pay to see done.
When I was looking for full time work, there wasn't anything to be had. Now that I have other obligations and a kind of wore out body, it is all full time.
