I just signed up to replace mannequin hands....teehee.

It doesn't pay great, but I just could not turn it down. Anyone out there ever do this type of shop?

Just wondering, how much "doesn't pay great" actually is. Ten dollars?

PS
Do you get to keep the replaced hands?

I intend to live forever. So far, so good.
For me it was less than that but now I have 7 mannequin hands, 5 with bubbly paint.

It is an easy task. Make sure you take the pics correctly. I forgot to hold the old ones up in the pic.
I want to do this shop! Can you share the MSC, since the client hasn't been named, please?

That could be fun for Halloween smiling smiley

So the hands are pretty easy to get in? I was worried about that.
It sounded like more work then the money to me. First reading and printing all the stuff, then the actual replacing, then the photos and logging them in sounded tedious. I sure hope for your sake I'm wrong grinning smiley
@ CoffeeQueenI think they give you a hand....or two. smiling smiley

You got extra hands?
How many arms do you have?
You got any extra knees?

What me worry
When I received the offer, it was for a mere $7 bucks. It came from a mystery shopping company.
I'd do it for the free hands. I really do need some hands! MSC please? NM Found it! grinning smiley

Unless it has changed from my retail days the hands (& other body parts) click in with about a 1/4 turn. Very easy.

Stilllearning - Why would you want old mannequin hands? How about legs and arms and other body parts?

I will bite since the client hasn't been named. It is Trendsource. I signed up for 2.
I just received this job too. My family is going to think I'm crazy - driving around to replace mannequin hands! smiling smiley

I did it in November. Extremely easy. The weird part was no one in the store asked what I was doing.

Why? For the simple reason that when my husband asks me to give him a hand, I can oblige. smiling smiley

LOL for $7? No way. I don't even do phone shops for $7. It's as though the MSC wondered, "How low can we offer this that they will take them?" $6? $7? $9? Let's start at $7 "

Yeah - I probably won't make a career out of them. The really funny part is the money won't even make up for gas to get there. It made me giggle and is so interesting to me that I would not pass up a chance to try it. I can check off "replace mannequin hands" from my MSing bucket list smiling smiley
Dare I ask why you need hands?

Kim,
Halloween of course. Cheap, disposable body parts can be hard to come by.

Hey if anyone does these and then has a USPS shop, you can ship them to me. grinning smiley

I glad you explained this by putting Halloween in front of this.

Glue a strip of bright red fabric to the hand and then close the fabric in your trunk. See how far you get before someone calls the cops on you.
I did the hand replacement thing last year. Easy job.

Last week while I was merchandising in the store the display manager asked if I had any more since they have been getting stolen. There must be a huge underground mannequin hand market out there.

I did one of these for $7 + amusement value. I was doing a project in the store next door so there was no travel. Finding the manager on duty was about 5 minutes. Replacing the first hand was maybe 5 minutes. The rest were about 10 seconds. Made my wife laugh so it was worth it.
I have a few to do this week. I like to do it because it is fun. I also so some shopping after I have finished. I usually spend more than the pay but it is fun. So I don't do them often.
