Howdy! Fellow teacher (among several other things) here.
Starting out you'll probably have to take some crappy, low-paying shops (can you say cellphones, I knew you could) to get some experience, but it's only up from there!
After 15+ years of doing it, I'm at the point where I can usually choose only those assignments that represent a good value when it comes to workload vs. pay, and that I find enjoyable.
