Hello from Southern California!!!

Hello Everyone! I'm currently signed on w/ 9 companies, but a few aren't busy enough to be worth it to me, so I'm looking to see which ones are a lot more worthwhile. I did a few shops eons ago w/ Jancyn, then stopped for years & have started again for about a year.

I hope to have fun & learn a lot on this board! In no particular order, I'm with:

Intelli-Shop - Best so far that I'm w/
BARE International
HS Brands
JobSlinger
Presto
Second to None
SeeLevelHX
The Source
MarketForce

Welcome. In order to stay busy, many of us are signed up with 75 to 150 MS companies. I suggest that you start with the list (at the bottom of the page) of the 15 most mentioned MSCs. Then, on any day when you do not have as many shops lined up for that week as you want, make it your business to sign up with 5-10 more MSCs from the longer list of legitimate companies (also below). Enjoy !!

Thanks a lot, wow 75-150 companies?! I assume that's definitely for those trying to mk a good living solely from this. I'm not necessarily depending on this kind of work to pay my high rent & bills, but if it's possible, sure why not! I'd love to make $2000+/month from this!
Actually, that is for ANYONE who wants to stay busy doing shops that they like and that either pay well or lead to other assignments that pay better, or shops that provide valuable good/services, like oil changes, pet care, groceries, etc. Moreover, lots of clients change MSCs from one year to the next, so it helps the shopper have a better chance of spotting where their favorite clients' shops have moved. And, of course, rotation requirements will find you out of eligibility from some shops each month, possibly for months at a time.

I appreciate this thread because I have signed up with approximately 20 MSC and I was thinking that I should not sign on with anymore because this was surely an excessive number. I appreciate knowing that the average is higher, that really helps me.
Delete is your friend. It's not hard to delete what isn't suitable for you at any given time. Not all MSCs will email you about potential shops anyway, some you have to surf their job boards to find shops.
I think I'm signed up with somewhere between 20-25. . For me, that is more than enough to keep me busy. My calendar is full. I can't or don't want to squeeze in any more jobs this month. I don't plan to sign up with any more. Currently every kind of mystery shop in the world is available between the companies I signed up with, and I am able to work as much as I want. That is a pretty good list you have so far. You should be able to stay relatively busy, especially if you live in So Cal, as long as it's not some place like Merced or Palm Springs. What part of So Cal? Orange County? Inland Empire? LA County?
Inland Empire, so there are a few. I was telling another poster that I'm further over from L.A., but still 2 hrs from San Diego. So literally ALL of the places AA (a certain co.) lists is at least an hour's drive & I don't know about others, but the freeways have gotten worse due to the population & I've noticed that what used to take 1 hour on the freeway now takes 1.5 - 2 hrs on the freeway. It snows about 30 minutes from where I am, but still rain is rain & it can rain kind of hard here & there, but I'm not about to commit to a place I really don't have to go to on that specific day, slipping & sliding, risking being in a car accident to drive 1-2 hrs each way using (often 2+ different) freeways to do some mystery shop that I'd much rather enjoy on a nice-weather day anyway.

Another advantage of signing up with lots of companies is that you can see most of what is available and choose what shops suit you best - and offer the best compensation. Now, the MSC’s are competing for your work, rather than you competing with other shoppers for the work offered by a few popular MSC’s.

Hard work builds character and homework is good for your soul.

I totally agree. I often receive emails from schedulers who know my work whenever they need a 'hero' shopper, or basically someone who can do it at the last minute. Do a couple of those and they will love you!
I'm new on this forum, as well, but I have been doing these projects for a few years. This forum looks like it might be good for some feedback.
I'm currently signed up with 15 MSC's and may try a few more. I have fired a few, as well, along the way.
I agree with you on Intelli-Shop & Marketforce. I am lukewarm on The Source (I think I'm just really tired of the grocery shops and they keep begging me to do some).
The others you mention, I may try.
You may want to try Customer Impact & Service Sense. Both are heavy on fast casual restaurant shops. My only hesitation with Service Sense is they are not set up for either direct deposit or PayPal. If you are dealing with multiple vendors, keeping track of checks in the mail is a bit much.
