Now a Southern gal!

Hello There,

I am new to the area and adjusting to the high temperatures. So far, I don't seem to find as many shops as I did in the northeast but I am sure that will change as I learn the area.. Glad to be with you all and look forward learning a lot from the forum.

I think jobs totally depends on location. I live in the rural south, and as an example, my job slinger board normally has 60-70 jobs on it. (That is not all jobs, I realize this, I am just giving a numerical example) When I went to SJ California on business, I loaded job slinger just for fun, and there were almost 300 jobs in a smaller area then my normal home area. It's all about location, and density of population, and thus stores, around you.

I am sure you will find enough work, and I hope you enjoy your new home. I moved from the northeast as well, but I did it about 22 years ago now. Never regretted it.

You may find that companies that didn't have any shops up north have a lot down south too so you may have to sign up with more/different companies. I'm up north also so I can't recommend any but I wish you the best in your search. Happy hunting!

Appreciate all your notes. I live about 40 miles north of Charlotte. Lots of jobs there but not worth traveling that distance for $15. I know I could accept 4 or 5 shops to maybe make it work, but being that it is a large city and not knowing my way around, it would be difficult. When you think of Boston - that really is a small city and easy to maneuver.
Well New Englander, think less about how you make Charlotte pay for the time but think of it as a way to explore the city a little bit as a newbie when you have the time. I have never been, but with the right combo of parking shops and dining, you can experience a bit of the tourist light experience for the day without having to work too hard.
But Boston I agree is so charming and walkable.
Where in the south did you move to? I'm in SC, moved from MI.
