Hi all...I heard about mystery shopping on my the radio this morning and will watch an expanded segment on it on the news tonight. Sounds like a good source of extra money without the hard work.

Hahahaha! Yes it is a good source of some extra money. I can't say it is not hard work unless you don't think sitting in front of your computer for hours late at night uploading photos and writing long narratives is hard work.

Ah, bummer. If the news is reporting things that make this sound like easy work, I suppose we will see an uptick in the number of new shoppers and a down tick in the number of jobs on the board

Welcome to the forum! But also, some shops are tedious and make me want to go back to census work for a couple more hours.

makes me laugh, go for it, easy money...haha being your own boss is the good part., but I heard about this on a T.V. news show years ago and it's worked out....some jobs are easy most are not and the low pay...well........

I was telling my neighbor I had just done a shop and he said he and his wife were wondering about doing it. He asked, "Is it worth it?" My answer: No.

At this point it's more of a habit to look for certain shops. I've always been part time and whenever I start to ramp up and take more jobs, I want to quit altogether. After signing with a slew of MSCs to expand my jobs, I've now started to set my email notifications to OFF. I'll probably stick to the handful I can do in my neighborhood.

I know a lot of people here would discourage competition out of hand but if I felt it was worth it, I would have helped them get started.

I agree. I am new to the mystery shopping industry and am just now finding higher paying shops. I have been up half the night to get the reports right, I've been up all night more than once trying to make a deadline. I can not stand 8 hours I'm disabled. I was trained many years ago in customer service and have seen many opportunities for companies to improve. I love being able to help achieve a new level of service. But if anyone believes this is "easy" work, they are disillusioned. On a revealed shop where the employees are "unsuccessful" and I have to tell them it disappoints me as well! It makes your heart feel good to be able to tell someone they did a good job and present them an award. It's just like at Chrismas when you spent time thinking through the gift you are going to give and see the joy on someone's face when they get it.

Welcome! I don't consider it easy, however, I have had some easy, well paying shops, but I had to get through the difficult, poor paying shops....

It's hard work, just like anything else, but it is real. Start signing up for companies and see what they have available. Read, read, read and be prepared. Marketforce is a good company, imo, to start out with.

It makes my heart feel good to give the oops 'reward'. Bad customer service should be rewarded as well.
