Keeping Good Time

Hello everyone, I am new to this forum and was hoping to get some great tips! I have been mystery shopping for a month now and feel I have it pretty much together with the exception of the timings. I have been using my cell phone but it's cumbersome. Would love to hear from folks who have purchased stop watches or are using apps on their itouch?

Thanks!

I use the DVR app on my iPhone. I think your iTouch probably has the same app.

I use either a stopwatch, which I keep in my pocket, or a wristwatch with a lap timer. I have a Timex with Indiglo that has lasted years without even having to replace the battery. Takes a licking and keeps on ticking!
I have an under $10 digital watch/stop watch from Walmart that does extremely well. My cell phone has a lap timer but I find it too awkward to use discretely. I do verify my watch is accurate with [www.time.gov] on a fairly regular basis to avoid disagreements with companies about the actual time the shop was done. While I have never HAD an issue, when the receipt from the store is off I can state with assurance that my watch is accurate within 10 seconds.

Interesting to see this! On a recent shop, a cash register clock was waay off -- recorded my purchase time as after I'd already left the store! I'm actually glad it was off enough for me to notice right away. I notified the MSC and they told me to mention it in the report.
It is always good to be proactive when there is something screwy. Our server for dinner tonight was introduced as Michael and wore a name tag saying "Michael". My receipt says John. This will be mentioned in the report. It may well be that the guy's name is 'John Michael', but that is none of my business. I just want to mention the discrepancy so they don't come back saying "Please explain. You said his name was Michael but obviously it is John from the receipt you presented. . ."
There are several EXCELLENT "sticky" notes under "New to Mystery Shopping" section. I think it may be the "Nuts and Bolts" one, It talks about timing and timing devices - even walks you through how to discretely use it.
