2nd try mystery shopping

In 2011 I tried some mystery shopping on a casual basis. Then I moved, started a full-time job and stopped doing shops. I now find myself wanting a fun, controllable, different career. So I came back to mystery shopping. I am just trying to get started again and so am reading - trying to learn more, be more effective in my efforts.

I want to thank all you generous people who are so willing to share your experiences and wisdom to help us "newbies". I will be doing much research before I actually work very hard at getting shops.

Right now I am looking to find out which companies are legitimate; who has shops in Canada and I'd love to network with other shoppers.

Vividdetails: I like your approach and plan to fo!low your adventures. You are in the USA right? Seems like there are more opportunities there than here in Canadabut I can't be sure yet. I too want to make a " living" from this.

I visit a friend in Ontario so I always have my ears open. The shops appear to be less in Canada. Furthermore, the exact same shop for Megabus for example reimburses 50% off in Canada but up to $50 full value in the USA. Or a Canadian owned restaurant has a higher reimbursement in their USA location, and another Canadian firm shops the USA dept store but not the Canadian locations.
Actually OP, if you sign up with more MSCs, you will find there are more opportunities. I actually shop more for US based MSCs.

Since the CAN$ was devalued, if your US based MSCs have not changed their pay to CAN$, the fees for shops have actually increased if you work in Can. I live in Toronto and most of the MSCs I work with are US based and some of them are still paying in US$. Market Force of course pays in CAN$, however, CFI pays in US$.
Correct, I am in the US. Even though shops may be more abundant by me , I still try to sign up with every MSC that I stumble upon! Good luck in your adventures.
