Hi very new to this signed up for a company yesterday now going to do a lot of reading a bit nervous to take on my first assignment yet !!

Welcome to the forum and congratulations! First shops are always scary, but you will get through it even though you will be sure there is a sign on your forehead with flashing neon saying "Mystery Shopper!". The key is that you are not on some secret spy mission, you are just a normal customer being observant and asking questions.

I was nervous doing my first assignment too. You'll get over it, the more you do.

Don't worry - it's normal! I still get nervous when I do a different type of shop for the first time, sometimes even the second time. Once I know what to expect the nervousness goes away.

I get slightly nervous every time I shop, but it has been three months for me, and it does get better the more you shop. I think doing phone shops has helped me a lot because you have to prepare yourself for answers to questions before you call. Plus, if you make a mistake you might miss out on $2-$5 without spending gas money. Not, that it is alright to make mistakes. I have gotten low shop ratings because of phone shops because I have called on the wrong day or called more than three times in one day. It is a learning experience. This forum is a great source of feedback for a new shopper.

I am avidly looking for a myster shopper position in Puerto Rico. I worked in an agency that harrassed us to the point of dementia because of this program, but I fully understand its purpose. Sadly i looked aroung and saw many coworkers who cared less about this topic, not understanding this jeopardized their job security. Now retired as a 100% s/c disabled Veteran, I would love to participate in this program to help improve customer service and satisfaction.

I download and print the shop guidelines and the shop report, so I can thoroughly familiarize myself with the requirements before performing the shop. I often note the key requirements on an index card, i.e. due date, items to upload, geoverify code or not, pictures or not, evaluate bathroom or not, etc. It helps reinforce memory.

Also, please don't overload yourself with shops in the beginning, because you do not want to put yourself in the position of scrambling to meet a deadline or possibly missing a deadline. Give yourself time to learn how many shops you can handle and then confidently set your pace. I work two other part-time jobs, and I quickly learned how to manage my time well. Calendaring skills are a must. A smartphone is a wonderful tool.
