New to Mystery Shopping this week. Have completed my first shop as a Mystery Car Buyer.

Hello all! I started researching and signing up for MSP ( I'm assuming this stands for Mystery Shop Program) this week. I have signed up for Best Mark, and Market Force. I completed my first shop yesterday for Best Mark for a car dealership posing as a new car buyer. I was so nervous and hope I completed the shop correctly. It pays $17 and included a web inquiry and sales visit. I spent about an hour inside the car dealership. The survey was very detailed and long. Is this a fair fee? I have also signed up for a restaurant shop and a grocery store shop through Market Force to be completed at the end of the month. I have also read a post on this forum regarding documenting mileage and expenses for my taxes. I should probably make a spreadsheet that includes the details of the shop with mileage. As of now I am writing shops on a calendar. This is overwhelming at this point but I am pushing through! I have a lot of free time and hope I can do several shops a day. I also read that someone here is a member of about 100 MSP! I hope to find others that have more availability of shops in my area. I am looking forward to learning from your experience. Thank you!

(Mod note: Welcome to the Wonderful World of Mystery Shopping. The name of the restaurant you will be shopping has been removed as it is a breach of Forum rules and probably also a violation of your ICA (Independent Contractor's Agreement) to link an MSC with its client(s) )

Welcome! Most shoppers I know would not touch a new car shop for less than $35-$50. However, just count your first of any kind of shop as training.

If you go to the New Mystery Shoppers area of the forums you will find that the first dozen or so topics are full of essential information for new shoppers. Then at the foot of each screen you will find a list of about 200 legitimate MSCs to start sighing up with. You have found two of the ones often recommended for newbies. Just be aware that most shoppers aspire to graduate from those MSCs to ones that pay better.

Welcome to the forum!

It sounds as though you are off to a good start. I use spreadsheets for a whole lot of things I have my shop sheet, which gets updated whenever I accept shops, request shops, report shops, get paid for shops, etc. It is the heart of my business. Mert has included a link to a basic one on the New Mystery Shopper section. I also have a spreadsheet of the companies I have signed up with that includes the company name, URL for their login page, my user name, password, date I originally registered with them and then any notes. And I have a spreadsheet of 'who shops whom' because even companies who currently don't have shops in my area shop clients who may eventually be in my area because we get new franchises here every year.

Thank you for the information. I am using the first few months as a training. I hope to advance my skills as a shopper during this time! I am excited smiling smiley
I just signed up for MS and am very nervous about it. I received word of a candy shop paying $10 plus $3 bonus for purchases. Still learning and am very excited to get started.
