writing shopping reports

Hi!

My name is Peggy,and I would like to know how does one do a shopping report,
and is there any examples of how it is written? How many pages long are they?
I am new to the field, and am unemployed,and would like any training you may
know of.

Hello, Peggy and welcome. Reports differ with each MSP. Some MSP sites have sample reports which gives an idea of their preferences. Other sites allow us to see the blank report in advance of the shop. Reports can be multiple choice, fill in the blanks, narrative/comments, each differing in length, depending on the MSP/Client.

After being assigned a shop and completing the on-site evaluation, reports are entered online based on required observations.

I looked at some of the jobs with the two companies with whom I signed up. I can't see the reports anywhere and I am afraid to take a job when I have no idea what they want. They tell me so little about the job. Am I looking in the wrong place?

The notices genreally will tell you little about the job. Some MSC's have pages where they show what they expect, some do not. Some have this accessible only after you are accepted for the shop. You gotta roll the dice, and see what ou are capable of.

The flip side of that is that a new shopper's cautionary approach can set the stage for success. If I were hesitant to accept a new-to-me shop because of unclear requirements, I'd seek clarification beforehand. Ask questions ~ of the MSP, or on the forums.

Very true, Mert. It's never in bad form to ask for more details. But at some point you do just have to dive in...and pray a bit. :-)

One I was trying to see is a cell phone visit. I don't know much about cell phones. How will I know what they are telling me is true for the report?

You don't have to know if it is true. You just report what they said.

For the future, SOYD, these kinds of questions, BTW, are better asked in the other forums, as they get more attention there.

Hello Peggy.

Welcome. Just an observation from me, since you are asking about writing reports for mystery shops. Grammar and spelling are important to producing a quality report.

Try not to worry too much about the report. Read the instructions, be sure you do what the instructions tell you to do, then answer the questions on the report form telling exactly what happened. Try to be careful of spelling and grammar. Save a copy of your report in case the MSP has questions. Or, if you do the same shop again, you can use your report to refresh your memory.
