I spend more time researching the "field" than shopping!

Hey all.....I just happened upon this fabulous community and it feels great to read a lot of posts that I can relate to......hopefully this forum will streamline (what I like to call) my PMS....Pre-Mystery Searching....I am weird like that.......I thought it was catchy considering I spend so much flipping time reading, learning, researching and attempting to organize it all in a way that makes sense to me smiling smiley

miss,
A big welcome to the forums!
Setting up and organizing your own small business, which is what you are experiencing, requires an investment of lots of time. If you read the main topics in the New Mystery Shoppers area of the forums, you will find lots of information to make that somewhat easier. But there really is no way around the process of applying to MS companies and learning the ropes. We can give lots of tips for organizing and energy savings, but then it's up to you.

Based in MD, near DC
Shopping from the Carolinas to New York
Have video cam; will travel

Poor customer service? Don't get mad; get video.
Yes, it is up to you. There is lots of wonderful information here. But at some point you have to get yourself out the door and shop.

Have fun and let us know how it went. smiling smiley

Happily shopping Rhode Island and nearby Massachusetts and Connecticut
I am signed up with around 45 companies and have worked with nearly half so far......my time is spent searching for anything in or around my area.....and then of course making sure I haven't shopped the same spot in the last 90+ days.

I'd love to be able to "sell myself" to schedulers....a reverse setup of the Job Board(s)

Unfortunately it doesn't work that way, though there was a guy who tried to set that up once. I gather he sort of threw the party and nobody came.

Every time you fill out an application to be a shopper you have an opportunity to "sell yourself". Schedulers want people who are reliable, self-motivated, capable and have some skill with writing. They want them to be able to jump in and produce good quality work with little hand-holding. As you put together your writing samples for your applications, sell your strengths, especially in these areas.
I spend a lot of time sometimes trying to find enough work round out a trip to town. You get to know who has shops in your area as time goes on.
