Hello from Lexington KY

Hi all,
Just discovered this forum. Let me introduce myself. I am Chris from Lexington KY. Anyone from the same area? Been a shopper in the last 2 yrs, doing it just for fun. Unfortunately lost my job this past December, so now I am looking into this more seriously while I am looking for another job. Every little bit helps smiling smiley Looking forward chatting with everyone.

Thanks. They move my job (actually the entire dept) overseas for cheaper labor.
Hi y'all in the Bluegrass. I'm from Louisville too. I've been kept busier than a one-armed paper hanger here in Louisville and Southern IN since I started shopping 6 months ago. The jobs are out there and they keep trying to send me to Lexington so don't give up!!! I try to stay a bit closer to home so the jobs must still be on the boards. I'm still learning the "business" side of shopping too. I took the MSPA Silver yesterday and updated all my profiles. Now I'm going to add a new MSC or two every day until I have too many. Then I can go back and glean the ones I like best. I'd like to not do the "show me the money" shops so much and concentrate on shops where I don't have a big cash outlay. I've eaten at so many casual dining restaruants over the past few months that my grocery bill was cut in half but I've gained 10 pounds. lol Aren't doggie boxes wonderful??? lol There are plenty of jobs out there near the bigger cities, but sometimes you have to travel for the good ones. I checked out jobs near Bowling Green when I was trying to help a friend get started. There's not much there but a few restaurants and service stations and a bank or too. For her, it would just be a fun thing. I need the money. I've been taking jobs in Clarksville and New Albany, IN. When I schedule a profitable shop up there, I add on some smaller ones and spread out the gas and mileage amongst the multiple shops. . Tomorrow I go up there for a dinner, retail and a bank. I learned that trick here in the forum. Instead of gas and mileage taking a bite out of one shop, it spreads the cost among the multiple shops. I'll be up there for about 3 hours and bring home about $58. Take away some travel costs and it's not too shabby and I get to eat really good food. I'm rambling, but it's an exciting hobby/job. You must be vewwy qwiet when mystweey shopping so when I'm not shopping I talk non-stop. Have lots of fun out there. I don't make a living at this but it brings home some extra money when you are retired and makes a difference (and it gets Grandma outta the house).

Yup, Grandma, that is definitely a reasonable approach to this. Look at the benefits from shops as well as the fees and make it all work for you! And there certainly are opportunities to find that 'balance' across a wide spectrum.
