Hello everyone my name is brendabeyt and i have been shopping in the DC area for about 2 years now and loving every minute of it ! A recession that has shaped many a new comer to this mystery shoppers world and this forum. We hopefully are here to assist many newbies that don't have policy and procedures to look into instead are relying on the veterans that have come before us to assure us that this profession can indeed be lucrative as well as fun~ remember that people who judge don't matter and those that matter don't judge<3 peace~
Hello everyone,
I am a longtime (4+ year) shopper, now doing almost exclusively video shops. I am based near Washington, DC but travel the US to work. I also love high end hotel shops. (Love all those "frequent sleeper" points!)

Poor customer service? Don't get mad; get video.
Welcome,

I have been mystery shopping off and on for a while now and after taking a break have decided to try it again.

I have a question. If I accept low paying shops and do a good job with them, will I qualify for better paying shops?

Any companies that are slow pay or don't pay?
As a general rule it makes good sense to 'strut your stuff' with any new-to-you company or, as in your case, any company you have not worked with in a while. You need to build up your reputation/ratings with the company as someone easy to work with, competent and complete, timely and pleasantly responsive. Good ratings (whether you can see them or not on their website) build your reputation and make you more interesting to award more demanding jobs to. Now does the company have work beyond nickel and dime stuff? Hard to tell up front because frequently they limit what shops a given shopper can see. So while I will do a couple of nickel and dime shops, unless I have reason to assume there is something better I will get to see and/or self assign, I won't continue with the cheap stuff.

At this point there are a number of companies that are being slow to pay. Use the search feature on this or any other forum to look for recent experiences with a particular company. Right off the top of my head, the worst at the moment seems to be J C & Associates and aTH has been showing some 'issues' of late, though they are eventually getting stuff paid.
Hello, I've been a shopper for about 3 months and i enjoy doing the work. I was wondering, because i am a stay at home mom is it possibile for me to make myster shopping a long time career or do i need to look at it as a something on the side type of thing. look forward to hearing from a pro.
Welcome, thornton. I'd say it depends on what your goals and needs are whether this can be a long-time career. Many shoppers have been mystery shopping for years, both part and full time based on their lives. Reading this forum, you will see that there are young, old, men, women, stay-at-home parents, full/part-time employees shopping on the side, retirees, and all of us juggling to make it work for our individual needs.
