newbie

I just wanted to say hello. I just started mystery shopping in Oct and I am very busy. I have been doing a lot of shops for Intellishop and the surveys have been taking a lot of time. I would appreciate any advice. I am located in SoCal. Thanks!!!

Hi I would really. Like to start but not sure what yo do need help!!!! Any one out there to help me
jmmj welcome to the board! Advice? Dump intellishop!! just kidding. They're not a popular company with a lot of us and there are so many more companies that are better to work with and pay more. Some people like them though.
Just curious why people don't like them. It seems like they have a lot of the shops in the $20-40 range, though they do require a lot of writing. What companies do you like the best? So far I have done shops with- Bestmark, NSS, MarketForce and Intellishop. Intellishop seems to have the most jobs in so cal.
Welcome to the forum, jmmj0727!

I've done a lot of shops with Intelli-shop and enjoy working with their schedulers. They are quick to respond and I like the assignments I've done for them.

What can I say but "To each his own" jpgilham smiling smiley

The list at the bottom of this page has links to many great companies. It sounds like you're off to a great start. Keep signing up for more companies and read the mystery shopping companies discussion threads for more information.

All the best to you!

cecy13, welcome to our forum. If you want to mystery shop, you should think of it as a business and not as a job working for someone else. You will be an independent contractor running your own business and working for yourself. The first thing you need to do is spend time reading this forum, especially the first several threads in the New Mystery Shoppers section. Then you need to start signing up with mystery shopping companies. You do that on line and you will find a link to a list of companies at the bottom of the page. You will need to sign up with 100 to 200 companies. For starters, I suggest Maritz, Bare, Market Force, Best Mark, and Expert Solutions. After you sign up with the companies, study their tutorials carefully. Read daily on the forum to keep up with what's going on and learn more and more.

I am in Texas and have done mystery shopping for the last 4 years. I am having a problem trying to sign up with Texas Shopper Network. When I hit submit on their website it does not allow the information to be submitted. Have tried several times and a window pops up stating that the website can not process information and try again.
svillarreal507, will tell you upfront that I know nothing about Texas Shopper Network. But, as with some other mystery shopping companies, sometimes the browser used doesn't play friendly with their site. Try another browser, IE, Firefox, Chrome, etc.

You can read the threads about them. However to sum it up, shopper displeasure with Intellishop is largely about the grading of shops. They operate on the Sassie system like perhaps 60 or so other companies and grade shops on that 1-10 scale. Intellishop does grade harder than most and often gives grades of 8 or 9 with little specific feedback on why that shop was not given a 10. Many shoppers are familiar with other companies that routinely give 10s for their work and then find themselves often scoring lower at Intellishop. Combined with the lack of feedback for a 8 or 9 creates frustration for those shoppers who want to improve and find themselves with little guidance to improve.

However, please don't take those comments as a reason to avoid Intellishop as they are a fine option to have. They pay as promised and are a company with lots of shops nationwide. They are responsive to questions and are up front with their different grading policy on their website. Remember there are hundreds of companies out there. Just don't expect this one to act like every other Sassie company with their grades.

Happily shopping Rhode Island and nearby Massachusetts and Connecticut
I wouldn't advise dumping Intellishop unless you come to that conclusion on your own. They are a reputable company with a lot of work and they pay their shoppers. Lots of shoppers don't like the way they grade reports, but my advice to you is to realize you will not score all tens and as long as your grades are good enough to self assign shops, they are good enough. The frustration level in mystery shopping is pretty high and you'll find you have to maintain your own personal tranquility. It doesn't come built in for us.
