Hi from Lake County, IL

Hello from Lake County, IL, halfway between Chicago and Milwaukee and home of Gurnee Mills Mall, Six Flags Great America, the Chain of Lakes and more people than live in the city of Milwaukee or Cleveland.

I've been MSing for about a year and have been hitting it pretty hard the last couple weeks, $250+ last week and around $200 this. All things considered, the hourly rate winds up being pretty low, at least for the shops I've been doing. I've done a lot of $10, $15 up to $25 jobs. Doing quality evaluations seems to take a bit of time too, as much as 1/2 to 1 hour per. I suppose it works out to $10 or $15 per hour which is about what unskilled laborers with relatively low communication and computer skills make around here.

Low pay aside, at least it's interesting and I can fit it in with family and volunteer responsibilities. Is there any hope of higher pay? Are there better assignments that are given out without posting on job boards?

Forum looks like a great resource. Probably should have checked some of the posts before I did a few things...

Hi and welcome. I have found that the more times I do the same assignment the quicker it goes for next time so that my hourly rate goes up. And usually by the end of the month some of the low paying assignments get bonused so they are definitely worth while.

It is a great resource. Settle in with a cup of tea or something and enjoy. You might start with the New Mystery shopper section. It has information for new and not-so-new shoppers. smiling smiley
