Greetings from UpState NY

Hello my name is Don. After retiring from the Navy in 1999, I set out on a career in IT. I maxed out and then got laid off in 2008. After working in fields from Driving trucks over the road to managing a McDonald's restaurant, I just wasn't making it. I have been actively pursuing Secret Shopping now for two weeks with weekly profits of $245, and $435. I am still trying to lock down the best paying shops/schedulers for the Up State NY area. I am trying to build relationships with schedulers so they will call on me to do their shops. For now, I hope to get enough shops to gross $500.00/wk. I would like to improve on that by figuring out a way to make consistent earnings. I have been married 31 years and have three grown children. I am aggressively taking on shops paying $40 or more per shop. I would appreciate any advice from seasoned shoppers on how to truly make this a profitable venture. Thank you all, and Happy Shopping :-)

Welcome. The best places to start will be the first 11 topics in the New Shoppers area, and the list of legitimate MS companies at the foot of this page. To reach your goal, I suggest that you sign up with more that 100 MS companies and then keep adding to that list. Eventually, you will want to add video shops to increase your net profit. That will require equipment, training and travel. Please be sure to carefully read the experiences and tips from experienced video shoppers before venturing into that arena. There is a lot of misinformatioin about video from those who have not actually done any video shops.

Again, welcome to the forums.

Poor customer service? Don't get mad; get video.
Walesmaven, Thank you for your response. I will get started on your recommendations immediately.

Hi everyone. I am retired and live in Merritt Island. Looking for some advice on the best mystery shopping websites to sign up with. Also do you have to give your social security number out. I don't feel comfortable doing that. Please advice.
If you are going to be paid, yes, you do have to give your social security number out. You are required to keep records of all earnings so that you will be able to pay taxes at the end of the year. Any earnings over $600 will be reported by mytery shopping companies to the IRS.
