Living in Canada and working in US

Hi,

just wondered if anyone can help me with this. I live in Canada, but occassionally get job offers in Northern Maine, which is only 20 minutes away. I haven't taken any yet as the pay isn't worth it, but if I had a few jobs I might. Anyway I was just wondering if I am allowed to work in the US? The jobs are from Market Force and they seem OK. What do I tell border Patrol? Do I tell them I am doing a mystery shop? Will they stop me as it's classed as working in the States when I'm not allowed?

thanks

Louise

I gather from previous discussions that this is something to discuss with the MSP that is assigning the shop. There is at least one company that has a distinct 'cross border' policy and shoppers must be dual citizens or have appropriate authorization to work in both countries. Shops in an airport of a different country do not appear to 'count' as working abroad. Some companies are likely to respond 'duh???' to the question because they never thought about it. Market Force I suspect has thought about it and likely has some policy in place that either has documentation requirements or maximum $ you can do in a year. Certainly if I was going across the border for the day I would just indicate I was a 'tourist' to just visit for the day.
