I'm totally new to mystery shopping and I need help finding good shops. You know, the ones that pay pretty well but are also easy since I'm so new to this. Any tips/websites?

The best advice is this: Go to the New Mystery Shoppers forum here and read, read, read. There is a lot of advice there. Check all the forums here - it's really the best way to learn. smiling smiley There's also a directory of companies on this site. Scroll down for the links.
Sign up for every company known to mankind, even those that may not have a client in your area right now may switch companies and have one later. Clients hop around to different MS companies all the time. As for paying pretty well for easy work---when you find one let the rest of us know! The average fee is anywhere between $4 and $15, the ones that pay much higher are rare unless they're bonused but also look and see what they expect for the money. GKF does audits that require a two day committment plus you are required to pay for your own drug test AND background check and don't get reimbursed for those until you've done at least two audits for them. Doing even one of those audits is enough to make you take to strong drink. The choice is yours.

Or perhaps Informa would like to keep their shopper solicitations to the Job Board area rather than chasing them all over the forum. If a shopper does not have enough initiative to find you, then perhaps you don't want them as a shopper either.
I've seen a lot of posts by companies, so it must be an acceptable and common practice. Informa's post is honest and provides a positive contribution to the community, as set out in forum guidelines. I hope we can all post according to the guidelines. I am an independent contractor shopping for Informa and other companies. I have found postings on this forum by representatives of mystery shopping companies to be interesting and informative. I don't understand the problem with Informa's post. Is it against some regulation that I missed? And if so, where do I find it?

No, it is not against any rules. It is just a bit annoying to see there are new posts and go to see if there is a question or a problem and discover it is a company soliciting shoppers. I have only limited time to spend on the forum and really don't need to see that post over and over. Many times they dredge up old posts and suggest a shopper sign up with them when the shopper has not revisited the forum in months so wouldn't get the message anyway.
I like to check out all the posts because I don't want to miss anything. It takes seconds to scan a thread, and as long as I don't respond the time is insignificant. My comprehension of Informa's post is that it was an enthusiastic and encouraging response to pmilner07's first post. If I had made that first post and got that response from any company, I would have felt so very much appreciated and valued. To me, it's simply wonderful they responded to a new shopper reaching out. I'm pleased to learn there is no rule against companies posting on the various threads, as I like to get their input and opinions as well as those of shoppers. Pmilner07 reached out, and they answered. To quote our guidelines, "We're in this together."

Mary, I took it that way, too. I first learned of Informa through a post they made on some thread here and they seem to be an approachable company.
I agree with Flash. A lot of us have limited time, and this is a shopper forum. There is a section for companies to solicit new shoppers and to post jobs. While I like Informa and shop for them, I prefer to correspond with shoppers when I come to the forum.
Informa should post invites in the Jobs Forum. Thats what it is there for...:p

Shopping Bama and parts of Georgia.
I'm still learning 24/7.
I like to read posts from shoppers, and I also like to read posts from mystery shopping companies. This gives me access to fair and balanced information. That said, opinion really makes no difference. Those managing the forum will make the best possible decisions to get the best possible results. I applaud the efforts of forum management and financial supporters who have made this forum possible and available. I have not contributed a cent, and I have no ownership. It is a free benefit, and I am enormously grateful.

Hello,

We appreciate the feedback and, with respect to the people here in the forum, will reach out to shoppers via PM instead of posting in their thread.

The intent was to be more interactive and approachable with our postings. Thank you all for the support and we're glad you're shopping with us!

This section of the forum is for shoppers. MSPs have a section to post their shops.

It's like pedaling your wares, otherwise.
