1st shop...help

Ok, I'm having two issues:

1) I found this on the assignment sheet:
"You must confirm your shop online immediately after completing your shop."
The problem is, I can't confirm it immediately because it will take me about 10 minutes to drive back home. I don't have a laptop that I can take with me.

2) In the email from the scheduler she said it was scheduled for Sunday. However, when I log in to my back office it has today's date with tomorrow morning as to when the survey is due.

I think the scheduler went home for the day because now she is unreachable.

What do I do?

Thanks!

"Confirm immediately" is I think defined as within twelve hours or some such. When I do a shop for them I confirm conveniently after I get home and after handling such critical things as changing clothes to something comfy and putting on the coffee pot, but before I start processing receipts and photos or reporting shops. It is a little extra 'nonsense step', but it means they don't get ulcerous that you didn't even go.

Your dispatch sheet should show the deadline for your report to be turned in. I just glanced at my most recent and my deadline was to have all receipts and the report uploaded by 10AM the morning after the shop was performed.
Ok, thanks Flash for that clarification on the "confirm immediately".

Yes, it does say that my report is due tomorrow AM by 10 Central time. However, my issue is that she said via email that it would be scheduled for Sunday, then she went and scheduled it for today, then she evidently left home for the day. LOL!

So, I guess I should just go this evening then and ignore the fact that she meant to schedule it for Sunday?

Thanks... nervous and excited both. Nervous to make a mistake and forget something even though I have read and re-read the instructions, it's just totally new and foreign to me, but I guess we all have to do our first one at some point! smiling smiley
Sounds like the scheduler screwed up, but unless you have it in writing there is little contesting it. Usually just easier to go by the website and call it a day.
When I receive the acceptance email, I confirm then, it is o.k. to wait, but I find then I might forget...you will find what works best for you, I'd say to confirm when you arrive home.

The Bestmark confirmations are to be done AFTER you have performed the shop, Irene. There are other emails from schedulers that want you to confirm that you are actually accepting the job. The Bestmark one is to confirm that the on site portion is accomplished.
I didn't realize she was talking about Bestmark, didn't see their name mentioned...we all know I don't work for them, so was talking about my general experience. They have their own agenda for everything.

Would like to know if this poster was in fact talking about Bestmark, otherwise Flash, I find your remark extremely rude.

There is one MSC that does that all the time you confirm that you have done the shop as soon as you can after you finish the shop.
I'd like to know if poster was in fact talking about Bestmark, I did not see their name mentioned, if so, fine, if not, I detest the way you jumped on me... lay off unless you care to be the only poster on this forum, I know I'm taking offense.

If you read the thread, Irene, you will see that the concern was instructions stating "'You must confirm your shop online immediately after completing your shop.'
The problem is, I can't confirm it immediately because it will take me about 10 minutes to drive back home. I don't have a laptop that I can take with me." Do you know of ANY company other than Bestmark that requires you confirm AFTER completing your shop???
Bestmark was NOT mentioned in her original post, only in your interpatation of it

Live consciously....
Do you know of ANY other company that has you confirm immediately after you have performed the shop? Many want you to confirm that you are accepting the job when they assign it to you, but confirming AFTER?
Sorry to have started any issues here.

But yes, the company I was referring to actually is Bestmark.

Thank You!
No need to apologize. It is very dangerous for someone with some experience to give advice when they don't read the post and understand what the question is or who the company is 99.999% certain to be.
For the records, I do not and have never done a job for Bestmark, so, how would I know what their procedure is....as long as your "always" right, what else matters, and why would it be dangerous...that's almost laughable.

Misinformation, especially to a new shopper who is trying to figure it out is always dangerous. You should know that. And since the shopper was asking about 'confirm after' the shop and mentioning a dispatch sheet, if you don't know Bestmark, do you know ANY companies that ask you to 'confirm after' doing the shop? Or any ones where the instructions are called a 'dispatch sheet'? If so, please let me know!

Give it a rest, Irene. I've never done a job for Bestmark either. But whether the OP had been talking about Bestmark or another MSP, she clearly said her question was that they wanted her to confirm AFTER she did the shop and your post addressed a totally different issue. You didn't read the original post. Just stop. You're taking this way too personal. Flash gave the OP her answer. Over and out.
I accepted a car dealership as my first assignment ..today.
OMG after reading the paperwork, which I received AFTER accepting the job, we must remember everything from height, hair to name to every word said to rest room appearance, cafe etc..and then answer questions in STORY like form..
I have an excellent memory and an eye for detail but ..would appreciate any suggestions on how you sneak to document while you are at the dealership or any suggestions for this Newbie would be appreciated.
I am doing an electronics store after which is located near the dealership. Not as much to do but less pay..
Sunddenly I am exhausted.lol
Hugalump,
Make a small list of items you must remember and put that into your handbag. Excuse yourself to the restroom about half-way through the shop and note things like hair color, height, etc. For entry and exit times, note the time that you got out of your car as you do so, and the time of your return to your car. For the rest, drive toa very nearby spot, park and complete your notes. Be very careful not to have any shop papers or notes visible in your car, even paperwork for other shops, because someone may very well be test driving your car in order to give you a trade-in estimate!!!

This is not rocket science, so take a deep breath and smile as you go on stage. If you miss an observation, just tell the scheduler or note in the report that you failed to observe that item. As long as it is not a critical piece of info (like the name of the sales agent) you will probably be fine. As for names, believe you me (!!!) those sales people will insist that you have cards with their names before you leave the site. lol

Based in MD, near DC

Poor customer service? Don't get mad; get video.
Walesman, Thank you. I didnt read this until after my "shop" but by coincedence I did everything you mentioned in the above, right down to the rest room. I took my laptop and stopped at a coffee cafe to type in while still fresh.
There isnt much $ in this but at the very least I am keeping my mind active until a permanenct career comes along..thanks..it actually was fun and i almost drove home in a new car.LOLOL
In regard to automobile dealership shops: I usually print their website with one of their Special Offers on it and take that with me. I can make notes on that, which is exactly what I would do if I were actually planning to purchase a car.
I just make my notes in codes like initials for descriptions and kind of work some of the figures like age and ht. into my car info notes. Everyone who is seriously wanting to purchase a car will make notes on prices, special financing and other info important to them, so this is not a tip off. You can do the same thing with appliances and furniture.
Excellent suggesstions. Thanks so much

Making notes in the restroom is not my first choice of location, though it will do in a pinch. A good time to reflect and make notes is when your car is being appraised for trade-in value. Roughly, half of the onsite visit is over. The salesperson normally leaves you to reflect during this process. I remain at the table and type notes into my cell. I've got my props - calculator and scratch paper, on the table as well. After being presented with the first set of numbers, I'll send them back once, twice or three times more. While they're sharpening pencils, I'm texting myself. After it's all over, I have made my notes, and can scoot on home, without the need to write more notes.
Ok, I get it! Julieann thanks for asking this question! Flash, thank you for your clear answer! Now I know what went wrong. Lesson learned!
I did one of those auto shops where you have to write word for word exactly what happened for every question and there were a lot of questions. The salesman also called me at least 3 times a week for a few weeks. I worked on this report for about 2 hours and then gave up. I emailed letting them know that this is not a shop for me. I am new too so I do lots of underpaid boring shops. I have also done some that I enjoyed but shops like this car shop, make me very unhappy. I would rather do 4 $15.00 shops than one $25.00 or $30.00 shop that seems to go on and on.
