getting started

I want to be a mystery shopper and ever since Aug. 2007 I signed up, and paid for, a service that was going to get me started and become a mystery or secret shopper. Well, all I have been able to accompish is online surveys. I can't seem to get ahold of anyone who is supposily a contact from any of the email i receive. I leave messages, and do not get any phone calls back. I am hoping someone out there can hook me up with a company or two that will help get me started as a mystery shopper. I have no experience, but know i can do it. I have all the time, day and night, to comitt to this career. PLEASE HELP.
Thank you Melissa

Melissa, it sounds as though you may have been scammed. There is no cost to shop, rather you get paid (badly paid though it may be). You can see how the thing works in "Nuts and Bolts . . ." thread towards the top of this forum. Good luck, you can make it happen for yourself!
The first two websites you shoud visit are Federal Trade Commission
and MSPA Mystery shopping prividors assn. The will tell you about the
legitimate and not legitimate mystery shop operators, not by company,
but by what to look for. The get the posted list of Sassie shop
clients. Sassie is a software company. If, starting out, you only
sign up with Sassie clients, you will find the software with which you
must contend, very similar and works the same way. The best software
I have found yet is Market Force if you want somehting easy to follow.
hi shoppers i have not started yet i need a company to start with my girl friend said that she will refer me after her first assignment and her ck clear with the bank she recieve 4,800.00 dollar ck to start shopping with i called the company but they said that she had to refer me but im ready to get started i have some good information from mr jacob jans that helps alot on getting started what not ot do. it is called free mystery shopping course you can go to mysteryshoponline.com and sign up
Sandra, hopefully your friend has not wire transferred any money to the folks who went her the check because I'm 99.9999% sure that check is bogus and will bounce. If she has spent any of the money or has sent it back to the "company" she will be having to repay that money to her bank.

Mystery shopping is a legitimate business but there are a lot of scams out there that are preying on people making them think they are becoming fabulous mystery shoppers. The legitimate companies pay $4-$20 generally for a job AT LEAST A MONTH AFTER YOU HAVE DONE THE JOB AND IT WAS ACCEPTED TO SEND ON TO THE CLIENT.

There is a list on this forum of legitmate mystery shopping companies to sign up with. Take a look, read the "Nuts and Bolts . . ." information for how this works and then sign up with some legitimate companies and try a few jobs to see if you like it.
Melissa, Go to the Mystery Shopping Discussion page. Believe me when I say,'There is no company out there that is going to pay $4,800.00 for you to shop for them". If this was the case, we would all be sitting in front of the tv eating bonbons and taking wonderfully expensive holidays. If you really want to get into this business, please listen to the experienced shoppers and take their advise. There is a lot to learn and it is not for everyone. Remember that if someone offers you money up front to shop for them, it is a scam.
