how long should it take for shop submissions to be reviewed/approved?

last week, i performed several shops for a company (which i won't name here) totaling $400. i submitted the shops by the necessary deadline one week ago. however, none of the shops have even been reviewed yet, so i don't know whether they've even been approved. i would like to know whether they've been approved or not, just so that i know for certain that i'm going to get paid. i drove over 200 miles to visit all of the shops with purchase/return scenarios for a total shop fee of $400. it's a week later, and none of the shops have even been reviewed yet, even though the deadline was a week ago. i had submitted everything on time.

"Should" is ideally less than 24 hours after submission. "Is" can be anywhere from a few hours to more than a month. Some shops you will never hear back anything from them until the check arrives in the mail. So on those companies you have no idea when they reviewed the work of even if they ever reviewed the work. It can be very frustrating.

The fastest I ever had a shop reviewed and accepted was under an hour when I reported a dinner shop and submitted it a little after 11PM. The editor must have been sitting there with nothing much to do because I got back the acknowledgement that it had been sent along to the client before midnight. This past week I found on a website (they did not even have the courtesy to email me) a review of a shop done about a month previous to reviewing that was complaint after complaint. What really burns is when they call or email for clarification weeks after the shop was performed.

You fulfill your part of the contract by getting the work in in a timely fashion and what happens beyond there is out of your control so not something to get worried about since worrying won't help. If you are concerned, you just don't perform more shops for the company until you have been paid for the work already completed.

okay, thanks. the other companies that i've worked with have typically reviewed/approved the shops within 24 to 48 hours. so when i did 200 miles of driving for a $400 fee, i got a bit worried when the shops weren't even looked at a full week after the deadline. i even purchased/returned $12,000 in product for the shops.
I would guess it depends on the MSC, one of my favorite MSC's doesn't send the reports out for at least a week, something has been left out, schedulers just plain haven't gotten them done or, they need clarifacation, and you have to call and see what's going on. The thing to worry about and find out is when they pay, you won't know unless you get an email saying report hasn't been accepted. Remember no news is good news.

i just want to verify that it's been accepted, but they won't tell me. i didn't even realize, but it's a company out of australia. i thought that i was being hired by a company in the united states, because it was through the mspa.
