New(ish) Mystery Shopper

Hello,

I am a relatively new mystery shopper and would love some advice. I used to mystery shop a couple of years ago as a hobby and some extra money here and there. Recently, I have found myself greatly enjoying the whole experience and have been doing as many shops as I can. I am really interested in possibly going full-time but am scared to take the leap. Although I have tried to do as much research as possible, it isn't easy to find full-time mystery shopping/auditing information. Additionally, I am interested in getting certified as I have heard that is the best way to get the higher-paying assignments. Has anyone gone full-time? I want to note that, at this time, I am not able to travel long distances (more than 45 miles). However, I would love to in the future.

Welcome! I used to be full-time prior to the pandemic. But, I work three states, do a lot of routing, and there's a lot of traveling. Most of the companies I work with have lowered their fees so far that it's hardly worth messing with until the end of the month, when the jobs are bonused. I feel if you are signed up with enough companies and in a large area, you could do ok when jobs are bonused. I also don't feel getting "certified" helps you make more.

Shopping Arkansas, Louisiana, & Mississippi.
Only you can determine if full time is appropriate, but here are some things to think about.
At present are you leaving jobs on the table because as part time you don't have enough time? Would you have extra expenses such as health insurance and retirement savings that currently are provided by an employer? Do your part time earnings and benefits already pretty much cover your living expenses?
Thank you for the welcome! I am so happy I found this forum!

I would like to add a little background on my situation. I am currently a part-time caseworker. As of right now, I do not have any benefits coming from my job. Fortunately, I have been adding to my retirement fund for about 10 years and pay for a pretty affordable health insurance plan. As of right now, my part-time earnings pay about 50%-60% of all my bills. However, I completely understand this type of work can be unpredictable. My fear lies with unpredictability.
