What is the meaning of the rating?

I just completed my first shop with Intelli-shop and I got an 8 rating because the proofreader noted I didn't give details on one question which asked for clarification after a yes answer. I resubmitted the answer and then got the rating. Is that a good, bad or just an average rating? I see all my new shops show a 5 rating prior to doing any reports.

Ratings are the scale by which companies determine which shoppers to give work to and which to avoid. An 8 is a good score, 9 is better and 10 is best with the SASSIE companies (of which Intellishop is one). From time to time you will see a shop that has as a requirement that you must have a score of '8 or better' to apply. Plums tend to go to 10s and 9s.

Whether you can see it or not, every company has some sort of rating scale for their shoppers and every time you report a shop, the score for that work goes into your overall rating. You will find a whole lot of folks get nutsy when they lose a point and there is no explanation why.

The SASSIE shops start shoppers off with a 5 automatically. If you agree to do shops for them and fail to perform, I suppose your rating could go below 5.
And in your case, your actual performance was probably better than an 8. Most companies deduct a point or 2 if they have to come back to you for clarification or more information. First shop for a new company is usually a learning experience -- I'd say you did just fine, and if you do more shops for the company, you'll have an opportunity to raise your overall score, since it's averaged.
Hey penny11,
Here is a little tip for you, I also do a little work for these guys and they pay well and on time. When you have to write a report use word and then you can use the spell check as a back up. A lot of reports will allow you to paste to a comment section.
Hope this helps, and that 8 is a good score, you more than likely got a 10 they are a little strict on the reports, my score is 10 with them.

I would like to add the rating is very important...as a new shopper, you will start to see the prime jobs after doing several smaller jobs and maintain a 9/10 rating, proving you are reliable and trust worthy. You will learn from the tough editing, don't feel bad about getting an 8 while starting, that's perfectly acceptable. I worked for Intellishop for years, doing over 50 jobs before I saw a "prime" job on the board. They do save these jobs for the best...so, my advice would be, do the work, get good and the rest will happen. Remember you can rise your rating by doing better on the next job.

Live consciously....
A good rating may or may not be important to get. It is important to get a decent rating to be offered future jobs. You should always attempt to report to the best of your ability. As for the necessary stepping stone to be offered the "Prime" jobs, thats not really true. My first few jobs with Intellishop were prime jobs. I feel it depends on the company and how many shoppers are in a particular area...winking smiley

Shopping Bama and parts of Georgia.
I'm still learning 24/7.
