How do I get started?

I would love to start Mystery Shopping but I am leary about signing up with random companies. I also looked on the job board and didn't see anything for MI which is where I am.

Can anyone help me figure out which companies are legit?

There is a list of companies in the first post of the first thread of the Mystery Shopping Company Discussion. Before you too involved in getting signed up with lots and lots of companies I would suggest you try the basic companies suggested in posts in this section and expand from there if it works for you.

Hi LisaA,
There are lots of companies out there you just have to be careful which ones you go with.
What I will say is that if any company try`s to say there is a fee of any kind stay away. My experience is that the legit companies do not charge you to become a shopper with them.
There is a great list as Flash said so go and check it out.

Register with a few companies named here...Maritz, MarketForce and Bare Int'l and start working...take whatever comes your way (in your area), and learn how to write reports, get comfortable, you'll soon be getting better jobs. Good luck!

Welcome. You are on a forum that provides a lot of information from mystery shoppers to other mystery shoppers. You are in the right area. Just above, read all the threads marked "sticky" - everything you need to know to get started. Then sign up with as many companies as you can and start checking their job boards. Good luck.

I am interested in starting but nervous at the same time. Is there a form that you can follow or something to help you get started! Don't know how to get started!
