how do I find out who is looking for shoppers in my area?

Hi my name is Kim and I joined mystery shoppers in nov.of 2010. I've applied to about 45 company's so far and have no responses. M.S. took my application and money without telling me if there are company's in my area that would even want M.S. shoppers services. I don't believe that M.S. would accept me in my area if they didn't have work out this way for M.S. shoppers. soooo, I guess I do need some help besides the master list to go from to find work. I really cant,t keep spending time on this job if nothing is ever going to pan out for me here in eugene oregon. So if there is any one that can help in any way I woulkd be so greatful. Thanx Kim

First of all you should NEVER pay to shop. When you do, you have been scammed.

There is a list of 200+ companies in the first post of the first thread of the Mystery Shopping Company Discussion section of this board. I understand that a few of these may be charging a fee these days--just disregard them and don't sign up. To find out more specifically who has shops in your area, sign up with Jobslinger.com (the free version, not the JobslingerPlus version) and then put in your zip and the radius you are willing to travel. Sign up with those companies that you see. Similarly there are a few companies that have shops with nationwide clients where you are likely to find work. These are Market Force (blue portal), Bare and Corporate Research International. These are not necessarily companies you will want to stay with in the long run, but they generally have shops in every city, town and rural area.
Hi, Kim, welcome to the forum. Excellent advice above from the most experienced shopper around. All the companies listed in the list Flash references cost nothing to sign up with. The best thing you can go for yourself is to sign up with as many as possible and spend time reading everything you can read on this forum. There are lots of tips that will help a shopper. Jobslinger is also a good idea, because it will show you which companies currently have jobs in your area. Unfortunately, MSing is very time-intensive when you are building your business. You will probably have to dig in and spend a lot of time with it before anything pans out.
I second Flash and AustinMom.

I'd try Market Force. You'll hear everybody @#$%& about them, but it's my experience that they have the most work.
Gapbusters also tells of jobs in your area. Not getting any jobs out of 70 is a little strange. Take anything and get your feet wet, it will happen. Jan. could be slow in your area.

Live consciously....
