yahoo Email Acounts

Hi all,

Was just reviewing Flashes info for newbies and came across the info about NOT using a Yahoo email account. I currently use a gmail account, but all my emails go here and wanted to separate my "work" email from my regular email. Flashes sticky was written in "09".

Is that info still valid?

This still seems to be the case. It would appear that Yahoo and AOL both screen out emails from many MSPs and don't even send them to junk mail. This is likely from former shoppers with those email providers marking the shop emails as spam. I can understand those providers eliminating 'global emails' going out to more than 15 or 20 recipients, but apparently they have taken it a step further and just block all emails from some providers, even if they are editors asking for clarification of work performed.
I have found that Gmail works perfectly well for me. After using it for 6-7 years I have over 5500 emails saved and have used only 10% of my available space. And of course free is the perfect price. Some folks complain about the ads down the side of the page, but frankly I don't even see them even though I know they are there.
Add-Art is a plugin I have intalled in FF. It removes all adds from the browser and plugs in weird images instead. The images rotate once every couple of weeks or month, and I don't have to see any ads at all.

i love yahoo, but it said not to use it ...

i am using hotmail and have no issue with it.
I opened my Yahoo email account when I first started shopping. I didn't know of possible problems with Yahoo then. It would be a lot of work to change it now. I have never had a problem.

Edited to add:

Having said this about Yahoo email, if I knew then what I know now . . . I would have used gmail and suggest new shoppers do the same.

I have my work account with yahoo, and rarely do I get a work email in spam. This has happened, but rarely. Way too much trouble for me to change now, as all companies have my yahoo address as well as paypal...never had a problem with paypal. I have heard Gmail screens spam better, but when I started, I didn't know, just did it all on my own, no forums. yahoo isn't a problem, just if I'm expecting something, I'll check spam first, and my important companies are in my address book, so, they don't go to spam.

yeah yahoo does have a problem with spam.. it seems to mainly filter out sassie however... i dont know why nor care.. all you have to do is do a search for the stuff... and most of the time i dont rely on emails... its actually quicker (i think) to surf on over to the websites themselves... im pretty sure they post the jobs before they email them...

my main reason for using yahoo is that i check in daily and have been using my account there for more than 14 years so i figure yes it has its downs but im a man of routine and if it aint broke dont fix it..

I didn't know that there was a problem with yahoo email accounts. (Although I registered with this forum a few months ago, I have just recently started reading and posting). I currently have a yahoo email account and have not had any problems receiving emails regarding Mystery Shopping. I have "white-listed" all of the Mystery Shopping companies that I am registered with though, and I think this definitely makes a difference.
The problem with Yahoo and AOL mail was/is(?) the screening out of all email from some sites even if you 'white-list' them based on past experience of global emails to all shoppers carrying too long a list of recipients and looking like spam. Some companies can get around this by sending out messages through SASSIE, but then when the editor needs to contact you and sends it from the company website it gets bounced.
My biggest problem with yahoo is getting spam in my inbox, they are lax at picking it out. When expecting from a new MSC, I check spam box, but it's rare and duable, changing isn't.

I think Yahoo is the superior mail company. With it you get a notepad, calendar, photos (Flickr), maps, Search Engine, and can put your favorite companies with their Icon on your Yahoo Page. There are more things you can get with Yahoo that I didn't list.
Lastly, I've never had problems with losing Emails from shops.
yup props to yahoo... and come on... its a better name than all the other search engines...
