Yes, one would think that certification would actually give you information about how to get your business going. Let me suggest you read through the threads at the top of this section of the forum about how this works and getting your business set up. And you will find that Jobslinger.com (a free resource) is a reasonable tool for finding companies that shop in your area. Sign up with those and realize that most of the jobs posted on the Jobslinger website are likely be taken already, but those companies will likely have jobs next month or possibly even later this month.
Definitely browse this entire forum. Ask all the "silly" questions you come up with. Read, read, read.....I have learned an amazing amount just being here for a very short time.

Hi, hairyjobseeker. You didn't say, but does your certification have anything to do with mystery shopping?
Surprised you got certified before actually doing a few jobs, but that should help you, go to Jobslinger, register with a few companies and I hope you like it...takes a couple months of doing any job you get and learning by doing. No education better than getting in there and doing it yourself. I was never on a forum for my first two years of MSing.

Read on. Yes, there is a legitimate business of mystery shopping. No, it doesn't pay the fanciful big bucks the scam sites suggest and no, you won't replace your wardrobe, home appliances and luxuries every six months with great bounties of "free merchandise", and no, your free meals are free only in the sense that you are reimbursed for them, you still need to pay for them up front and write accurate and detail reports about them, often including extensive narrative, in order to get the work accepted and your meal reimbursed.
Definitley works, but invest in a good thesaurus, spelling and writing are important, as is research. This is not as easy as it seems, but is fun, you get free food (just have to work for it). Your report has to be according to instruction, there are no short cuts, you simply won't get paid for an ill written report, and therefore be out of money. Study, do a good job and make it your business, many of us have. There are many scams, but read here and you'll learn what not to do, like accepting a large check from Western Union, if something seems to good to be true, it is....this is a legit business.

I have never done secret shopping, but I am very interested. I live in Baytown, Tx and I don't know how to begin. If anyone can give me some pointers or any help that would be great!
The best pointer is to go through all the data in this section before you start shopping, then start to read the other sections. Use jobslinger to find MSC's who post jobs in your area, then sign up with them. Sign up with newb friendly, easy form (but low-paying) MSC's CoRI and MFI. Then come back and read some more. :-)

Im so new to all this.I'm totally confused.Apprehensive,exited,I really don't understand what kind of information to give.And/or if its to much information given all with all the scams that are out there.Any body know whats going on in Grand Rapids?That's ligit. The purpose of this section of the forum is to try to give you both the information and the tools you need to shop. So pull up a chair, a cup of coffee and read. You are, after all, undertaking to begin your own small business which will succeed or collapse based on your own endeavors.
Thanks Flash.Yes thats what I've been doing tonight is reading,reading, for hours and hours and yes you are a very big help.You really are.I can tell you have had a lot of experienced years of it does really pay off does'nt it.
In my market it works very well as supplemental income. I would hate to need to totally support a household and/or family based on what is available in my market.
