"New Guy" here. Researching for possible legit job.

Good Morning Folks;

It's been such'a hec of 2 + yrs w/ out stable work I can't "buy a job". Anyways, I get these spam emails often (the latest from MSPA!) which I quickly found out, they're a scam.
Still, it kind'a "put the bug" in my ear & I'm carefully & cautiously searching to see if there are any trusted & legit "Secret Shopper" companies that are hiring.
I'd never thought I'd see myself doing this but, I'm running-out of options it seems (7 interviews in 2 yrs) & still no luck. I'm a multiskilled Army Vet w/ a clean record so I truly have a hard time understanding why I haven't been hired yet by some entity.
Just hope someone here can point me in the right direction in this "Mystery Shopping" field of work. I'm in NYC btw.
Thanks so much. It's my pleasure to make your aquaintance.

Realize that mystery shopping is pretty purely done on an independent contractor basis. You sign up with companies (preferably from a legitimate list such as here in the first post of the first thread of the Mystery Shopping Company Discussion section, the lists at Volition.com or the list at the MSPA website), you check the company job boards, you select what you can do that looks interesting, you perform and report the job per the instructions, you get paid and reimbursed generally 4-6 weeks later. It is not rocket science, it requires diligence and is not the equivalent of full time pay for full time work.
Sign with as many as you can...at times there will be no work in your area, other times that same co, will get a client and you'll be busy. Register with many, get your reports in on time, be detailed, write your reports to show the negative and positive in the shop, be truthful without being abrasive, follow instructions and have fun...while the money is not great, it's a good way to supplement your income. Good luck!

Live consciously....
