I started about 6 weeks ago. So far I've registered with 20 companies, but many don't do shops in my area, Westchester County, New York. I've spent more time registering than doing shops. But I see some other people do 50-100 shops per month. I know shopping companies don't tell you in advance, but how do I know which companies do shops in my area? I can't register at all of them.

It's tedious but you just have to keep on applying. Even if you find out which company does shops in your area, that doesn't mean the clients won't jump ship to another company. Also, many companies don't publicize their shops, but offer them to only the best shoppers in their database, so it pays to just keep plugging along and filling out a couple apps each day. Just be sure to keep a copy of a writing sample so that you don't have to write something new each time you have to provide a sample as part of the application.

I don’t know exactly where you are, but I noted on the internet that a zip code in Westchester County is 10601. I put this in Jobslinger.com and within 30 miles of that zip code (including NJ cities), I found 2236 job posts. Now don’t get excited—most of these jobs are long since taken and many will be listings in a number of towns by the same company. You want to use the list to find WHO shops in your area and later you can watch it for current posts or go directly to the MSP's websites.

Kern Scheduling – (They are not an MSP but a scheduling company) is scheduling bank shops,
Ath Power Consulting – bank shops
Shop ‘n Check – Fast food
Customer Service Experts – restaurant
Direct Scheduling Service – glasses shop
Coast to Coast Scheduling – gas station audits

This is just a sampling off the first page and with that many jobs there are going to be about 40 pages. You can certainly narrow it down to look at jobs closer to your zip code, but for purposes of who shops your area, I would leave the area somewhat large. Jobslinger.com is a free sign up and well worth it just to see who is currently shopping in your area, even if the jobs for this month are gone.

Good luck. There are a lot of shoppers in your area that I have run into on various forums. Make notes of when you see shops post so you can be on the MSP’s job board those days next month. Some tend to do posts on the 23rd-25th of the month, some the 3rd Tuesday, some are purely random. You just need to add reminders on your calendar around the days when you have seen shops post to be sure you check.

Thanks,Flash, but that's part of the problem. 10601 is in NY, and you're showing me NJ, which has gazillions of shops. The travel and bridge tolls make it not possible.

But I will look up the companies you gave me for Westchester County. At least they're doing my area.

I am registered on about 60 companies. I usually shop the same 10 again and again.

In the beginning, searching takes time, don't give up and do it as much as you can.

It is shopping forums that are addictive. If you have been here more than an hour (or whatever time limit you set for yourself), go do something useful. You won't find jobs here.

For a jump start, try Shaddow Shopper. If they have their new member special, you only have to stay a month and then you will know what you are doing. It was worth the money, cut six months off of my learning curve.
