I am new to this. Seems the first thing needed is a new email. Have never done this & cannot get to 1st. base.

Can anyone help me get started?

Thanks.
Hello Bill and welcome to a forum of mystery shoppers willing to help. Start reading the New Mystery Shoppers section, or just hop around to different sections. You can learn much. Find out which MSPs (Mystery Shopping Providers) have shops in your area. JobSlinger is a good start. It's a free site where you can register and after putting in your zip code, will return a list of shops to you. From there, you register with the MSPs, and start applying for shops. Mystery Shopping is a process that continually requires legwork.
Hi, I'm so new to this its embarrassing.I received several email from Dennis Hunt which Im sure is not his real name,my last email was my 1st assignment .I was to complete n a couple of hours (time was very important)I was reminded. I received a package via fedex at 9:02 there was 2 money orders i was told to cash them imm at my bank/ shop at ? spendn 100$ MY ITEMS TO KEEP/THEN sEND THE REMAINING 1600 MINUS 200 (MY PAY) TO NAME LISTED N INSTRUCTIONS/ I email him(Hunt?) inform him that my bank wanted to hold 7days n try check cashing iwas told to cash where the M. O. was printed. the I CAN B REACHED at ANY TIME/ NOT ONE REPLY/ took M.O. to another check cashing store ? U guys know the end. Both m.o. had been cash Jan5/get this the orginal amount was 500 each/the amounts had been change to870 I still feel so?????
Of course you realize that you are being scammed? Don't send money to anybody. Don't do the 'shops'. The check will indeed bounce. Mystery shopping is about YOU finding companies to work with, not THEM finding you.
Anybody know anything about JobSlinger?

Are they legit.?

They have some things that interest me but, want my SSN & I'm not sure I should give them that #.

Thanks.
There are several layers of Jobslinger. I don't believe that the free version ever wanted SSN. They are simply a job board so would have no conceivable use of your SSN unless you were getting a paid membership and even there, it would be your credit card number they would want. You went to Jobslinger.com rather than using a link from some place, such as an email?
Flash:

That is correct, went to JobSlinger.com. They had jobs like visit a car dealer, take your dog to a vet. for an exam, etc. Said they needed the SSN so I'd get paid.
Bill, a car dealership will be too difficult for you just starting out. Do jobs like mobil phone, fast food and sign up with Market Force...they have many jobs for the new starters. Taking a job that requires experience will dissapoint you (if you get them). Start small and grow, learn your skills, there's more to it than meets the eye, but have fun in the process.

Live consciously....

hey everyone. I just signed up and started a new email. I wish you guys luck. I can;t wait to get it started.
Does anyone know of good paying companies in Grand Rapids area? I'd appreciate anyone's help thanks so much.
cjd, Each person who asks that question gets the same answer. There are no shortcuts or handouts. There is a list on this forum, and others, of 200+ mystery shopping companies. Sign up with as many as possible, and then sign up with some more. Initially, also try using JobSlinger, which is free, to see who has shops in Grand Rapids, or any other area you define. Then, if you haven't, apply with those companies if the shops are of interest.
Thanks alot Mert. You are a big help and yes I've heard it several times sorry. But thanks so much.It has finally seeped in.Crazy me there's alot of information to take in.
I really didn't trust giving my social security number out to sinclair I don't trust nobody. I took their little test didnt pass. Help me out someone. Please talk to me'
As long as you are on a secure website (look for https:// in the URL bar) for a company on the list here or at Volition.com or at the MSPA website, you can feel reasonably safe giving out your social security number. It has been so long since I signed up with Sinclair I don't remember their test. The ones I do remember are A Closer Look and the flakiness of the Secret Shopper qualification test years ago (that I have to assume has been straightened out since I don't hear complaints about it any more).
