Very Cool!

Generational differences, personal preference and perception then, but good manners are good manners. I was taught to address my elders as Mr. or Mrs. Personally, I'm not offended when I'm addressed either way. More important to me is the tone used in addressing me.

My son calls his best buds "Dude", but only called his Dad that one time. No disrespect was intended, but that was how it was received.

I work in an office providing a service to customers. I can't say I have a hard and fast rule with them. I don't want to come across as presumptuous or insincere calling them either by their first name, or Mr./Mrs. I go with my first instinct. Either in customer service or outside the office place, I'd rather err on the side of caution and have Mrs. Post tell me to call her Emilysmiling smiley

Jay Tee, we are going to have to agree to disagree. Oh well-it is what is is, and the various MS reports will ultimately reflect such generational expectations of what constitutes "proper" greetings and closings.
