survey companies

I'm trying to get started with survey companies, I joined 5 of the top rated survey companies in the past 6 months, from what I was able to understand is you have to check off items that may be of some interest to you, now all of a sudden you get 5 phone calls, and maybe 8 e-mails a day wanting you to sign up with them. The survey company gives you $5.00 for the survey, now you try out this product free for 30 day's with this company you checked off and after 30 day's they don't hear from you, they will bill your credit card, they already have your credit card information, now that's for 1 product, the survey companies say you can make hundreds of dollars and some say you can make thousands, I don't get it, for you to even come close to those figures, you would have a garage full of items you bought or your trying out, can someone please enlighten me on how these survey companies work.

We don't really deal with survey companies much here. There are some online survey companies that shoppers have spent some time working with, but the kind of pyramid offerings you are dealing with are pretty scammy. There are some that pay cash for doing surveys, many others give you points that eventually can be redeemed for merchandise or cash.

A few years ago a shopper posted a list [www.mysteryshopforum.com] of companies that do surveys. Most folks have given up on most of them. I think a few still do Survey Spot, Opinion Outpost and perhaps a few others. The only one I still do on occasion is PineCone Research.
Thanks Flash for the information, I thought surveys go hand & hand with mystery shopping, I don't know how these survey companies survive, they should quit trying to suck people in.
