Special order question

When a special order is required, and they essentially want you to order a plain sandwich, but the instructions say to order it without ketchup, mustard, onions, and pickles... is it acceptable to say 'plain' when we order it? Or must we say specifically ask for the sandwich without ketchup, mustard, onions, and pickles?

When a special order is required, they don't want you to essentially order a plain sandwich. They want you to omit one item or two items. They are testing to see if your order is taken correctly and filled correctly. See the directions for specifics. It's my understanding that they want you to actually order the sandwich and tell them WHICH item or items you want to omit. On the receipt it will say "Q Pounder NO PICKLE" or "Q Pounder NO ONION." I could be wrong but I don't think it's an option to omit ketchup or mustard. The instructions give specific examples for each sandwich, listing the items that could be excluded.

When you report, the report asks you what item you excluded. The item you tell them you excluded should be shown on your receipt. If the item was not excluded, then your order was not correctly prepared and you will comment on that. If the item is not correctly shown on your receipt as "NO PICKLE" or whatever, then your receipt is wrong and you will comment on that.
I'm not sure which one you are referring to, but 'plain' might mean different things to different people. Even if you are supposed to have all of those things off of it (as opposed to just one or two), I would perhaps say 'just plain with no ketchup, mustard, onion or pickle'. There is a sandwich shop out there where apparently they put together sandwiches in advance and you are supposed to request it not have one item. The test seems to be whether they will prepare you a special one or just pick the onion or pickle or whatever off of one they have already made.
Thank you Austinmom. When I saw 'sandwich' I blanked in the 'burger' realm. You are right, it probably is the burger shop being referred to.
We cross-posted. When I saw special order, the burger two-purchase was the only thing that came to mind. But it could be any one of a number of other shops for other companies ..... but I've never know one to want a plain sandwich to be ordered. Even in other cases, they usually only one or two things removed. So, not sure.
