Cash Bar Audit

Hi all,

I have my first cash bar audit tonight and have a quick question. I apologize for having so many questions, but look forward to being able to contribute to the forum in a more positive way in the coming months!

For the shop, me and a guest will order two drinks each over an hour period and pay cash. The instructions are not explicit, but would you pay cash for each round or give a card and then pay cash at the end? Is it odd to pay for each drink as it is served, but still ask for a receipt? I want to ensure I do a good, thorough job at the shop without giving myself away as a shopper!

People do go on with the intention of having just one and change their mind so paying as you go is not odd. Are you required to get a receipt or just to take it if offered? Sometimes that is part of the audit process since a receipt is proof your drink was rung into the register.

The MSC I do most of these for doesn't want you to ask for a receipt but just pay cash after each round. You don't have to give a card or open a tab. If you don't get handed the receipts, you need to note what happens to them after each round (thrown away, left on the register, etc.).

Thank you. I read the guidelines again and this was outlined. This is my fault for reading them too quickly on my iPad earlier. It indicates to pay for each round in cash and noting check number if offered, but not asking for a receipt. I apologize for asking prematurely. Thanks again for the quick responses!

No big deal. Shops like this are contrary to what is normally drilled into us, RECEIPT, RECEIPT, RECEIPT

But exceptions to the general rule also highlight the rule that applies to all shops. For each shop, instructions have details that may or may be the same to similar shops.
