The most successful mystery shoppers help themselves. You should sign up with a number of companies. You can find lists of legitimate ones elsewhere in this forum. If you take the time to read through the forum, you will find plenty of companies people love, and plenty of companies people despise. Mystery shopping as a job is as much about the constant research required as it is about the actual observation and report writing. Higher paying jobs generally require a track record of some sort with the company. You will need to complete some "lesser than" assignments on time and done well to get offered better paying assignments. Boning up on grammatically correct writing will assist you with getting better paying ones, as they generally require considerably more narrative than lesser paying assignments.

There are many, just do a few of the jobs your offered, and do them well...the higher paying one's will come. Register with many companies.

Live consciously....
I've registered with nearly 200 companies and have been a shopper for 16 years. There are shops that pay better than $5-6 but you learn that you have to learn the rops\es and work your way up, especially with shops that pay a nice sum. I've done a couple shops that were multi-day, multi-part shops more like an actor playing apart over a period of time and these paid a tidy $450 per project.

if your looking for sites that search oppurtunities out there then i would suggest three sites

www.jobslinger.com
www.archodev.com
www.shadowshopper.com (for this one you do have to pay 4 dollars for the first month and then its 100 bucks for the rest of the year... i dont think its worth the 100 bucks but the first month is handy for starting out...)

You don't EVER EVER EVER need to pay someone to let you shop or pay for job leads. It's a racket designed to condiddle your money into their pockets. Sign up with every mystery shopping company you possibly can, even if they don't necessarily have shops in your area you never know when they can get a new client. I find that bank shops pay in the $12-20 range although most retail shops I've done can be cheap, sometimes a big fat $4 fee. A certain company pays you $4 for a gas shop with 8 covert photos AND unreimbursed gasoline and an inside purchase. Banks require no purchase, just a business card as proof.
