Ever shopped for BES (Business Evaluation Services)?

Hi,

I am relatively new to shopping and did a shop for Business Evaluation Services on 7/19/09. They state 45-60 days for payment via mailed check. Well, I haven't been paid yet. They do return my emails stating it's 60 days for them to cut the check, not 60 days for me to have it in my hands. It's been 3 months.

Has anyone else ever worked for them? Just curious if I'm being scammed.

Thanks!

My very first shop a number of years ago was for them. It was not a terribly lucrative shop, but I was comfortable with them and did work for them fairly systematically for a year or so. They lost their client in my market and I rarely check their site any more. I understand that over time they have changed a fair amount of their staff and like every other company are under stresses of a bad economy. I have seen notations over the past year of slow payments, lack of communication and "attitude".

You are well beyond their 60 day pay cycle so start calling their toll free number (888) 300-8292 asking about your payment. Move yourself up the supervisory ladder as you make your calls and if they indicate they have cut you a check already, verify when and to what address it was sent.

Shoppers SHOULD never have to chase payments, but unfortunately we sometimes do. I guess it just sort of comes with the territory.
I thought they paid 60 days after the end of the month in which the shop was completed. So, it can be closer to 90. They don't have much here, but they occasionally have some shops that have easy reports and pay lucratively. Not the norm, but I can wait for the pay on those as long as I know it is coming. The issue is that these days, you never know if it *is* coming from so many MSC's.

I did one shop with them, and the email I received from the scheduler asking for clarification in the narrative was so condescending/snotty I wrote her back telling her to keep her lousy $12 and deactivate me.
I have done only 4 shops for them, as they don't have more than 4 here, never all at the same time, and there are rotations. I will only do a couple of them that I enjoy and that pay enough, so that limits it more. I have never heard a peep from them about my reports. Just the email that says it was good and is approved.

I too, don't like their communcation, and haven't worked for them in over a year. Not saying there not a good Co., just didn't work for me!!

Live consciously....
I get at least one E-mail per week re their current available shops. I look through, read the requirements, check my calendar, etc etc and apply and do not get the shop. Finally, last week I reply to the scheduler, this has been going on since April of this year. Nina writes that it's because of my history and attaches dates and notes for four infractions.
#1 needed clarification. The request was snotty, condescending and with a grammatical error followed by a command to "check your grammar and spelling!". I contacted the reviewer explaining that the only one visible associate in the store was the cashier working a line of women with screaming kids and baby carriages. Explanation not good enough, suggestions none. In 2008, although I was new at this, I understood that yelling "Heads up, I'm a shopper" would not be a good thing.
#2. I got the ok to reschedule. My history showed a ? mark next to the new date
#3 and #4 were scheduled and cancelled by the scheduler "personally".
Shop #3, April 2010 , I had gone, shopped it, spent $35, tried to submit - couldn't so called the scheduler. Nina recommended checking my assigned requests. That I had called was never noted.
I answered her E-mail asking why was I not told. She writes back that I shouldn't be bashing the reviewer, who was a wonderful worker. This chick doesn't get it: MS co. or any others have no right to waste our time. So, in my opinion, BES has sadists who failed Reading for Comprehension working for them.
With all the other companies out there to work with I am not sure how hungry I would need to be to work with them again. But I suspect I would need to be very, very hungry. And I would get even hungrier waiting for payment.
Ive just applied to this company should I stay away from them? I'm looking to come back into this field of work and would like to work for at least more than £10.00 per shop. Any ideas of who I should apply to out there without wasting anyones time? Pls advise I cannot be bothered with snotty companies who can't be arsed to pay!!pls help

BES seems to be paying very slowly and with demand these days, so although it was the first company I ever did a shop for, I can not be enthusiastic about recommending them. If you are getting back into the business your best bet will doubtless reviving old relationships you had with companies where you won't quite be a 'newbie' to them any more. That may give you better traction for getting better paying jobs than starting all over with new-to-you companies.
