Off the grid (vacation)

If you're going to be off-the-grid and not accepting shops for 2-3 weeks, do you let your MSC's know? Does it matter?

I don't make announcements but I don't keep secrets either. If I have health issues and they call me with special offers, I tell them why I can't accept at that time. I shut down the volume of what I do mid-summer and mid-winter but I don't mention that either. However, if they call me mid-summer and mid-winter with special offers, I'll tell them I can't work in the extreme heat or in the extreme cold. My rolling obligations are more than I care to do during inclement weather so I'm very particular about picking up anything else.

Let me offer a different spin.

If you regularly accept certain shops and/or your scheduler has come to know and even rely on you, then it may be a good idea to let them know. It helps to maintain that relationship that can be so very important.

If you are one of a million shoppers and there's no way the scheduler remembers you, then there's no point in letting them know.

Thanks for your inputs. Most of my contacts with schedulers so far are by email. One that I've worked with the most called me today for the first time, so I let her know i'd be off work for a couple of weeks.
