Advice for a lackadaisical shopper?

So, here's the deal. I've been doing mystery shops since the summer of 2013, but only working for one company, Market Force. And they're great, don't get me wrong- but I feel that I have a different "style" of shopping than most others. Rather than loading myself up on a bunch of shops and audits and planning my week around it, I'm more of the kind of guy who, when he has a few hours to himself, tends to see if he can't do a shop or two on short notice.

Are there any companies or portals that are more accommodating to my kind of shopping? I'm particularly interested in companies or portals that give a lot of restaraunt shops. I've looked into SASSIE but I kind of hate how you need to sign up for every single company listed there individually- is there any way to speed up that process?

Thanks for the advice!

I think your best bet is going to be to sign up with a bunch of companies and go from there, I was only doing a few and once I sat down and took the time to register with another 40 or so companies the shops started coming my way. Now I have a relationship with some of the schedulers and they can call me about shops.

Good luck!

Misanthrope,

At the risk of responding to a person with a name such as yours, I think the best approach for you is to find MSPs like Market Force that allow self-assignment for most or all of their shops. It is not the most common method, but there are more than a few that do it. Some are listed below. You might also ask that specific question in a new thread. Good luck.

Thanks for the advice. National Shopping Service seems to have some pretty good restaraunt shops.
You'll just have to check job boards on the days that you have free and see if you can find something. You may just come across a shop that opened up due to a cancellation or a flake.

Goodwin & Associates mostly does restaurant shops.
Or you can check jobslinger.com and just sign up with the companies that have what you want as you see them.
Specifically for NYC, try Bestmark, they always have a load of fine restaurants in NYC, Bare for bars and young and trendy retail shops, Reality something for upscale department stores, intellishop for fun assignments and restaurants, trendsource for supermarkets, SEC, Second to none.
