Probably not. Can you be more specific?

Generally no... But like MDavis said- If you can tell us more, we can tell you yea or nay.
IMSC sells a yearly membership for $50.00. They put on conferences for mystery shoppers, call themselves the mystery shoppers support organization.
I am not a member of IMSC but I think there are many members on the forum and this organization has been discussed a great deal. If you do a search on "IMSC" and click on "all dates" I'm sure you'll get references to multiple threads. I have a hunch it's very important to anyone who is seriously shopping and wants to network and find out what's really going on. I'm a part timer and the IMSC conferences are not in my part of the country.

I attended one IMSC conference a may attend another. It was fun and worthwhile from a networking standpoint. I'm not sure what the membership provides. AFAIK, you don't have to have a membership to attend a conference.

Equal rights for others does not mean fewer rights for you. It's not pie.

Never try to teach a pig to sing. It's a waste of your time and it really annoys the pig.
IMSC is a legitimate business that I would consider one of the few exceptions to the general rule of "Do not pay to mystery shop." If I remember correctly, the $50 membership fee also gets a $50 discount to an IMSC conference. As such it can easily be worth it if you are going to one of their conferences. Personally, I have not attended one but probably will do so one day.

PS: There are scams that circulate with two basic themes. The first is a variation on the old Nigerian Bank account scam that purports to be from a MSP (they even steal names from real MSPs). They say, here is a check for - insert amount here. Cash it and send me some of it and you keep the rest. The second offers a list of mystery shopping companies and/or jobs for a fee. That is a bad idea to pay for because that information is available free. Those scams have people saying never pay to mystery shop, which is a good general rule.

Happily shopping Rhode Island and nearby Massachusetts and Connecticut
