Expanding opportunities

I've signed up with jobslinger.com but so many of the companies don't have work in my area. How can I get companies to expand in the Midwest?

Thanks. I'm signed up with 47 but I've found a few I wasn't signed up with. Just hate filling out the application to find out there isn't anything in the area when I email the contacts. I'm trying to maximize my time out and about making money not filling out applications with no future.

You just have to look at the time spent filling out applications as a time investment in your business. Besides, you might spend an hour applying to 5 MSC's, and then 1 of them ends up making you a couple hundred a month over the next few years. In a year will you be concerned about that "wasted" 48 minutes that represents a tiny percentage of the hours you spend in a year on mystery shopping, or will you think that hour was a pretty good time investment overall?

In addition, at any time one of the MSCs that does not have jobs in your area may get a new client ..... and suddenly, you've got shops! And you are already signed up and ready to go!

It's easier if you think of this as a business and you are marketing yourself. Not every lead will pan out but it isn't necessarily a waste - and a week, a month, or a year later it may pan out!

To me there is no waste of time when it comes to self-promotion

I attended the mystery shoppers conference in Chicago last year so that was 4 days rather than an hour here or there. At least one recurring gig resulted from that and the good check I get every month is a lovely reminder that was 4 days well spent.

You are on the right track by using Jobslinger to find jobs. It is a good source for a new mystery shopper. Others include the MSPA and Mystery Shopping Solutions.

I thought the same way as you and I'm in one of the largest cities in the US! When you watch the cycle, you start to understand that it's a first come first serve basis. When I started completing jobs (and I did some heavy duty gigs my first month since they needed fresh faces to rotate in), a ton of opportunities showed up!

MSing is like the union, you need to build your seniority. You also need to keep up doing quality work.

Within 2 weeks, I got a phone shop and it paid $25! I didn't need to be located in the same city as the client and was virtually the easiest one for the pay I've had so far even though other paid more. Just keep plugging along.......something WILL strike!

I schedule for Service Savvy and we have lots of assignments available. Some are restaurant shops in MN in and arount the Minneapolis area. We also have assignments every month in Fargo, ND and Alexandria, MN. We schedule shops in lots of states. If you are looking for a mystery shop and would like to email me that would be fine.
