New Mystery Shopper Question

I received a check from Bare International for:

2 Hours Evaluation Pay
Shopping Bonus On Training Assignment
Available Funds For Training Assignment
Available Funds Covered By Cashier's Check For $2,290.

I tried calling the number on the Contractor's Agreement and keep getting a recording

Can anyone enlighten me on this and any past experiences with Vare International.

P.S.-The check was drawn on Navy Federal Credit Union out of Merrifield, Virginia. I called their branch and they said that they have no such account that was listed on the check.

Any advice would be appreciated.

Bill, I think it's a scam. Don't cash the cheque.

Bare Int'l is a real, legit MSC. But someone has misappropriated their name to use in a scam.

Anyone who just send a check like that, is trying to scam you.

Do not destroy the check. Take it either to your bank or the police so they can possibly track down the person behind the fraud.

Bill, ask yourself why a company would send a total stranger (who has not completed an application or provided a social security number) a check for $2,290. If it sounds too good to be true, it probably is. Bare is a legitimate company but what you have is a bogus check from someone who is not truly affiliated with Bare. Most mystery shopping assignments pay $10-$25.......not hundreds or thousands.
