You must be blessed with the ability to remember a name for more than five seconds, unlike me. I couldn't shop at all without recording everything. 
I have a spy pen I stick in my bra, backed up by a small portable digital recorder in the cell phone pocket of the belt bag I use for a purse. Never know quite when those batteries are going to die, or you'll forget to delete the old files and the memory fills up in the middle of a shop so I try to run two recorders all the time. (Smart phone recorder app also works as a backup.)
In winter I have a vest with a breast pocket I would stick the spy pen into. But it's not winter any more so the cleavage gets to carry it.
