No receipt

I just did a mystery shop at Kmart which I would be reimbursed up to 1 dollar. So I picked up a candy for exactly 1 dollar.......I get to the register and they don't print out under a certain amount *smacks forehead* UGH! So I had to go back and buy something more expensive just to get one. I will be returning it :\ That ever happen to anyone else?

Methinks the cashier fed you a line of BS.

K-Mart provides a receipt for all purchases, regardless of how large or how small the purchase amount is. If a receipt is not provided, you should ask for it. If they have thrown the receipt away, they can reprint it. I the item has not been rung up on the cash register, there would not be a receipt.
They can also email it to you.

Shopping Bama and parts of Georgia.
I'm still learning 24/7.
WOW! I was watching though.....Even if she did toss it out she could have just gotten it. I did ask for it, thats when she looked at me like this O_O and said oh.... they don't print out if its under....
I didn't want to make her reprint a receipt that I paid cash for that was candy.
I'm not part of the rewards program, I wouldnt have been able to get it from my email.
Oh no way! That sounds awfully fishy! They are REQUIRED to give a receipt, period. That cashier was either pocketing it or just too lazy to reprint. I know it sounds extreme, but I would have asked a manager if that is there normal policy and I bet you would have gotten your receipt plus taught that cashier a lesson!
Did she actually ring up the candy or did she hit the no-sale button and just open the register?
I agree that receipts are typically provided by retailers for ALL purchases, and not just those meeting a certain dollar threshhold. And, this does sound more than a bit fishy. Many shoppers find it very helpful to use a credit card for all mystery shopping assignments.....that way, even if you are not given a receipt or lose your receipt, you will still have proof of your visit.

Welcome to mystery shopping!!!

I really can't remember.....I know she opened the drawer, she gave me my change.
Oh gosh, well it was in a *cough* trashy kind of area, so she could have been doing something fishy.
I think that Kmart has some issues. A receipt should be given when requested. I would consider reporting that with the shop.
I would bet that she pocketed the money. You should definitely report it. I've had a shop where I specifically had to pay cash and watch to see if it went in the register.

Sue, some shops specifically require payment in cash.

You can be that I'm using my rewards cards for all the others though! :-)
I didn't think of her pocketing it....then she would be short. Of course it was only a dollar. They probably wouldn't make too big a deal of it. If she did she was smooth about it. There were people behind me too who could have seen. But like I said before, not a good part of town. So sadly they may not have even cared if they did see.
People who steal from the stores where they work might live and work in all parts of town. By not ringing up a few orders, whether for $1 or for $10, if a cashier keeps track of the amounts, then removes the money periodically from the register, she would not be short or over and could pocket a significant amount of money.
I do shop for one company which requires me to pay only by cash and check to see if it goes in the till, Also a receipt is not requires but if they offered, I would take it.
Also another one was to go to Starbuck and get a specialty coffee and drink it there while observing the cashier.
