Stop watches

Anyone out there knows of a stop watch that doesn't cost alot and does the job..
I have gone though 3 of these things..Or does anyone have any suggestions on what they use...???

The majority of my shops, I time one of three ways, depending on the requirements - mentally, watch with a second hand, or cell phone.

If multiple timings are required where these three methods aren't sufficient, I do have a stop watch with auto-lap counts from Dick's Sporting Goods that fits in my pocket. It's 2 years old and cost less than $20.

I have a cheap digital watch from Walmart (under $10) that has a stopwatch feature that I regularly use. I find the battery lasts about 2 years and rather than replace the battery I just get a new watch as the band is worn and the face scratched enough by then it is getting hard to read. I always get the '5 button' type where the lower button on the left changes the watch from time to stop watch with two pushes of the button. By keeping the same type of watch I don't have to relearn what I can do without even looking at the watch.

If I have multiple timings to do I can count the first timing or an internal timing to the overall time (practice comparing your second count to your microwave's count down).

Push comes to shove, my cell phone has a lap timer, but it is awkward to use.

I have a cheap stopwatch from Wal-Mart with lap capabilities. I had to go through four watches to find one that would last more than a month. When they quit working, I returned it and got a new one. I have had this one for nine months and still works great. It was less than ten dollars it is the only one I tried under eighty dollars that would recall both times. I checked out so many that did the lap time, but you had record the first time because that time was lost when you looked at the lap time. The Wal-Mart watch keeps the first time displayed until switched to look at the lap time.

Dee, What DVR app did you use for your iPhone??? I downloaded one, but it was a free one and I can not FF or Rev and have to listen to the entire recording to get to the part I needed to listen to.

Also do you have to put your phone on Airplane mode to use your app??

Mine is free; iTalk from Belkin, but is ad supported. You forward and reverse by moving the time bar with your thumb. You can buy the non-ad supported one for 4.99. Transfer the recordings to your computer, where you have even more freedom to edit, etc, using iTalk sync that you download to your computer and sync with your phone.

I bought one of the watches with a stop watch feature at WalMart, but the stupid thing beeps when you start and stop the timer! Plus, the directions are terrible and the print is so tiny I can barely read it.

I've been looking at the Timex Ironman women's watches online and they seem to be similar to my WalMart watch, but I can't find anything that mentions the timer "beep". Is anyone familiar with these watches?

I have fast food shop in a few days that requires me to start timing once I'm handed my receipt and stop when I pick up my food. The beep on my WalMart watch could definitely be heard by anyone within 10 feet of me, so I know my cheapo watch won't help keep me a "mystery".

Unfortunately my cell phone doesn't have a stop watch feature and also doesn't display seconds, only hours and minutes.

I have the WalMart watch and indeed it "beeps" which in isolation sounds very loud but in a real situation is almost inaudible. I generally have my hand 'comfortably and casually' resting over my wrist with the watch so I can start and stop the watch with the side of a finger without looking at it. I use it daily to time shops including the fast food where you start the timer when you get your receipt. There is too much ambient noise in the store for the watch to be audible.

The watch instructions are indeed in very small print. I scanned them and have them on my computer so it is really easy--especially at time changes--to zoom in and read them.

Don't use a stop watch. I put my Digital Voice Recorder in my bra. It records everything so I get exact quotes. It has a timer on it so I just play it back and record, to the exact second, what happened. This way, I never have to look at a watch.

Just be very careful that you have your DVR set to run continuously. Many of them come preset to record only when you are talking to them so they shut off automatically when there is just ambient noise and your timings can be way short of reality.
