First rejected shop ever

Have done lots of shops over the past couple of years with never an issue. So this month my payment was short one shop. I asked why and got a note apologizing for not letting me know and telling me that my report was rejected because I went inside the restaurant to have a drive thru order corrected. Nowhere in the guidelines does it say not to go into the restaurant to correct a drive thru order. In fact it says correcting an order is optional. I got my three items, sandwich, fries and drink and it all looked okay initially. Then when I pulled over to taste the items, the "fish" sandwich looked questionable/unidentifiable and tasted like it had been on the grill for days. I actually was having a hard time determining if the sandwich I got was chicken or fish - it wouldn't have made either proud. So I went in to get it identified and eventually corrected. Apparently I'm supposed to be a mind reader and know that I wasn't supposed to go inside to make this correction. Am I being out of line here or are the guidelines on this issue unclear?

If you went inside to correct the order given to you at the drive thru, how and when did you place the second order, the one inside at the counter? Was the second order at the counter made before or after you asked to correct your drive thru order?

The guidelines say "Check your order before you pull away from the DT window or walk away from the WI counter......correcting your order is optional." That may be unclear to some, but to me it has always meant that once I leave the DT window or the WI counter, it is too late to correct the order. In addition, I would not go inside to correct a DT order, because I would need to go inside anyway to place the second order.
Thanks for your reply - editing done. I've been a member of the forum for a month of so - this is just the first time I felt I needed to post.

I placed and received my walk up order before I corrected the drive thru order. I also made sure that I went to a different person than the one who handled my walk up order. My drive thru order appeared to be correct - I got the three items I was supposed to get. The incorrect item was wrapped in the proper wrapper. Actually the guidelines say that timing stops if I have received all three of my items - doesn't matter if they are right or wrong. When I pulled away from the drive thru window rather than to sit there and hold up the line to taste my sandwich, it was obvious that something was wrong. I could not identify the meat on the sandwich and it looked and tasted like it had been on the grill for a couple of weeks. I frankly could not tell for sure if the meat was fish or chicken, so I went up to the counter to ask if I got the right item. The manager agreed that I got the wrong item and replaced it. Nowhere did I do anything wrong according to the guidelines for this shop. At least that's my story and I'm sticking to it. smiling smiley The guidelines do not say how, when or where to correct an incorrect item.

You know, I can almost accept the fact that they are wihtholding pay, but geez, don't you think the client would want to know how bad the experience was?

Sorry Len, I'm with AustinMom on this one. You are supposed to check your order before you pull away from the DT window. Just chalk it up to a learning experience. Now you won't do that mistake again huh? I've had several (3) shops rejected from MF so in my book you're doing great!
I love though on that shop how the timing is how fast they get you food right or wrong...seems wrong...off the subject I know but just felt the need to interject.

Thanks folks. Yes, I won't be doing that again. I was going to say I won't make that mistake again, but I still contend that I didn't violate any of their written rules. If it's optional to correct a wrong item, then spell it out how it is to be done and where. I often read on here mostly new shoppers complaining about not getting paid and nearly every time it is clear to me that they violated a written rule of some type.

And Traveliz, you are right. The timing stopped when I got my three items, two right, one wrong. All would have been fine if I had not bothered to correct my order and gave them a horrible rating. So now that employee is still free to put whatever the heck he/she wants on a bun and shove it out the window. smiling smiley

I also was going to say I won't belabor the point, but I think I already did that too. smiling smiley

I know that they say it is okay to correct a wrong order, but I have never done that. I feel as if it would make me stand out. I just report what was incorrect. It really doesn't sound like you did anything wrong, but you might want to not have it corrected the next time.
Don't feel bad, Sokoloff. Just chalk it up as a learning experience. I recently had a breakfast shop rejected because I ordered a Milk as the beverage in the drive thru. You are not allowed to order Milk. Ordering Milk for breakfast is no different than ordering an OJ, and it doesn't take as long to prepare. Besides that, I needed to coat my stomach after that nasty greasy sausage muffin I just ate during the inside visit. My bad. Lesson learned. If MF wants to be that anal about a beverage, then they can get somebody else to do those shops...IMO. Nonetheless, it was my fault for forgetting the every growing lists of things NOT to order!
I did a shop once and I started to eat the sandwich no chicken. Today I stopped at one fast food and you could see them making the sandwiches. This one girl was not wearing any plastic gloves. I was talking to the manager and I told her your one employee is handling food with no gloves. One other time it was just a dine in visit I saw this girl pick up the chicken nuggets no gloves and no tongs I walked out.
Could someone explain to me what will happen if I eat food that someone made with their own hands, without wearing some kind of gloves?
If they employed proper hand washing techniques and did not touch anything else (their hair, face, other surfaces) then nothing. The gloves can be a false sense of security because if the employee touches something they should not while wearing the gloves, the gloves themselves will also be contaminated.

Never try to teach a pig to sing. It's a waste of your time and it really annoys the pig.
Seeing an employee who is preparing food wearing gloves gives me NO reassurance that my food is uncontaminated. I have seen employees wearing gloves go to the bathroom - with the gloves on - and return to make food. I've seen them stop making food and - without removing the gloves - go to the cash register and handle money - then return to food preparation. And do you have any idea how often a food preparer changes gloves? I'm in favor of no gloves but frequently washed hands.

Interestingly enough, I took the Chipotle training last week. At Chipotle, the employees do not wear gloves to prepare food. The trainer explained that this is deliberate. The company has strict hand-washing rules and the employees do not wear gloves to prepare food.
I went to a hot dog joint once and the guy there was preparing my dogs, then helped someone at the cash, handled money and went back to preparing my food.

I told him to stop and get someone else to prepare my food and he got the cook from the kitchen to come out and do it all over again.

What's wrong with people anyway? Dumba**...they could make you really sick. Wash your hands! winking smiley
