service area help

Is there anyway to know if some companies service north LOUISIANA? Besides Jobslinger postings, I have not found this info. Wasting time on applications for companies that do not service my area.

Most MSCs consider themselves to be national so it isn't they are not servicing your area, you have just not found which MSCs do have the clients. If you have gas stations, fast food franchises and big box retailers anywhere near by, then they probably are being mystery shopped.

Equal rights for others does not mean fewer rights for you. It's not pie.

Hi, mimi12, welcome to the forum. There is no way to tell where the clients of a mystery shopping company are located until after you have registered and signed their confidentiality agreement, after which you are able to search their job board. Jobslinger does help you identify some companies who have clients in your area so you can then sign up with those companies.

As for wasting time on applications for companies that do not service your area: Mystery shoppers are independent contractors in business for themselves. Most business people invest in their business. They spend time and money planning their business and marketing themselves and their businesses. Not all business leads result in an immediate job or income. Some do, some don't. Think of the time you spend applying with companies as an investment in your business. And, when you think about how long it takes to sign up with a mystery shopping company, it is really fairly fast and easy. In addition, the clients of mystery shopping companies change on occasion. Just because a mystery shopping company has no clients in your area today, don't assume that they will not have a client next week or next month - and when/if they do, you will be ready.

Thanks for the input. I have joined three larger companies which required extensive application criteria compared to other sites that I completed in the beginning. I have been told that ne shopers should only join up to five large companies so you can promptly accept more jobs per company. She informed me that this is how to advance to the higher paying shops.

Please! If this info is incorrect, please let me know. I know that shops come and go from month to month, so I have limited sites joined. I want to be available if needed.
What? What company told you to only sign up with a limited amount of companies? I can tell you right now the motivation for that, and it is not for your benefit. They want you to be able to jump when they have a job that needs to be done? Guess what, that is an employee, not an independent contractor. An IC can sell their services to as many MSCs as they choose. They can accept jobs they want and turn down jobs they don't want or don't feel offers adequate compensation. The reality is, the more companies you sign up with and the more experience you get across a wide variety of shops, the better chances you will have of getting high-paying shops.

Thanks so much for correcting the bad advice!! It was actually a shopper who told me this!
It sounded off to me, but I'm new so went accordingly.
Take advantage of the forum. There is a lot to read and a lot of useful advice. While most of us have our core companies for most of our jobs and may regularly only work with 40 or 50 over the course of an average year, we are still registered with 150 or more.

Are you a direct employee of the company? If not, being told this is absolutely bizarre. Please post again and tell us which MSC representative at which MSC told you that you should only join up to 5 large companies so you could promptly accept more jobs per company. I'm interested in knowing which MSC would try to limit a shopper's company base to make the shopper more available to them.

I'm signed up with 150+ companies. Many posters here are signed up with more companies than me.
mimi,
In order to start to find enough jobs you will need to STRAT by signing up for 75-100 companies. Those that do not have jobs in your area this month, or this quarter, may have them next! AND, client change shopping compaies very often!

A common misconception is that if a business is shopped it will be frequently enough that a new shopper would see it on the job board right away. Some businesses do choose to only be shopped once per quarter, twice a year or even once a year. Often MSCs will also have special projects that only come up on an as needed basis. On Sassie and Market Force an assigned job disappears from the board and on Shopmetrics, Prophet and Corporate Research it will only show in back up status until it has been submitted.
