Location adits, open visits

Hello All, I'm a newbie to this deal. I recently spotted possible tasks that are more of a live audit, not secret. This is more in line with my skills and experience. I'm doing this for side cash and to expand some skills. Can anyone fill me in on the open audit activity? (My guess is that I need to season a bit before I can get one of those assignments....) Thank you.

Hello Henry, welcome. What kind of audit are you talking about?

Welcome to the forum, Henry. Yes, many of us could probably fill you in, but you would have to be more specific about which audit you are talking about. There are many audits with many MSCs and they are all different. Without knowing which you are talking about, we could give only the most basic info - probably what you already know.
Hey, nice to see some help arrive. I really don't know enough to fully explain as I have only signed up with a couple of MS services. I did see that one had a description of types of shops. They outlines that some are no secret, they are actual open "inspections" of locations. With my background, these types are much more ideal for me. I wish I had more to share. On a side note, I am finding that it is hard to identify the ideal MS service in my area. I've gone through the signup process a couple of times only to find that they don't really have shops in my area, (Nor-Cal). Any hints for me on this issue as well?

I appreciate the help.

Most audits have to be open or announced in order to be in depth. We all go through the same thing as you when looking for work in our area. Very few MSCs operate regionally. By signing up with many companies you will be prepared for the time when they do have a client in your area. Plus you have not been at it so long yet and not all clients are shopped weekly or monthly. You may have some pleasant surprises down the road.

LisaSTL, thanks for the info. I will say, the community of MS folks seems to be pretty helpful. I will be sure to pay it forward when my time comes. Cheers!
Henry,
With that "pay it forward" attitude, you do well, both here and in your shopper/auditor career. Welcome!

In order to find a variety of work, most seasoned shoppers recommend that you sign up with 75-100 companies. Most MSCs have just a few clients, and if those are not located in your area, you will miss out. BUT, those clients often change MSC contracts and will suddenly appear with jobs on the board of the new MSC.

Poor customer service? Don't get mad; get video.
My recommendation would be to start signing up with companies, but start with ones on here. Do some research see who is talked about alot, they are talked about for a reason. Do your homework though, they could be talked about for negative issues. But that is up to you to do the howework. Being here and asking is a great way to start.
